Bristol City v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 24 October 2020 Venue - Ashton Gate Kick off - 3pm Following a disappointing draw away at Coventry, where the Swans were rather fortunate to return home with a point, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is another away match, this time at second in the table Bristol City. On Tuesday evening, Jordan Shipley's classy finish was cancelled out by a sweet counter-attack goal from Andre Ayew as Coventry and the Swans shared the points at St Andrew's. Shipley guided the ball into the net via the far post to put last season's League One champions on course for only a second victory since their return to the Championship. However, the Swans levelled when Ayew rounded off a fine move which was started by goalkeeper Freddie Woodman. Steve Cooper's team improved after the equaliser, but were grateful in the end for a draw which extends their unbeaten away run to nine regular-season games stretching back to February. On the same evening, Middlesbrough ended Bristol City's unbeaten start to the Championship season, with the Robins also knocked off the top of the table by Reading in defeat at Ashton Gate. George Saville pounced on a howler between goalkeeper Daniel Bentley and defender Taylor Moore to nip in and slide the ball into the net on 73 minutes for the only goal of the game. It felt as though it would take a moment of class or a mistake to come up with a winner as chances were few and far between, and in the end it was overplaying by Moore - who scored an own goal in last season's meeting - that handed Saville the chance to strike. Before that, neither side found the composure and quality necessary to take control of the game, which remained both open and scrappy in equal measure. The closest City came to a chance of levelling once behind was when Tyreeq Bakinson went down in the box late on but referee Tim Robinson waved away any appeals for a penalty. The Swans and the Robins have met on 69 previous occasions with the Swans winning 21, losing 28 and drawing 20. In the corresponding fixture last season, the teams played out a 0-0, with the Swans winning the return fixture 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium: Turning to Saturday, I have a feeling that Bristol City will return to winning ways and will take all three points with a 3-0 victory. Hope I’m wrong
w I suspect you'll be right regarding the score line, although we've had 4 changes to the back 3 in the past 3 games so hopefully they'll start some consistency in selection and performances form Saturday onwards
Thanks for the foreword Taff. Brizzol will look to damage limitation after Boro and we’ve shown we can scrape a draw when we’re sh1t. So if Cooperman has given them a talking to, and us being on the road again I’m going for a BRI 0-0 SWA
Thanks Taff As much as I don't want to I can't see us getting any points here. Hopefully we wont concede 3 so it's a 2-1 defeat for me
I always try to be positive but I've seen nothing over the past few games which would indicate we can score goals ,and now we're beginning to ship them. Sort it out Cooper ,what ever we think the Club has brought in a lot of players ,maybe thats the problem ?
Thanks for the preview Taff...if clueless can play a team with a little bit of attacking prowess in it we can win this but knowing him he will be defensiv3 and clueles#. But I still go for a shock win here
From the Swans website: Swansea City and Bristol City will be looking to bounce back from disappointing midweek performances when they face off at Ashton Gate this afternoon. The two sides have been among the early pacesetters in the Championship, but neither Steve Cooper nor Dean Holden were particularly happy with how their sides played on Tuesday night. For the Swans there was at least the comfort of a point from their journey to face Coventry, even though head coach Cooper made clear there was plenty of room for improvement. The Robins, meanwhile, saw their unbeaten record ended by defeat to Middlesbrough at home, although they remain firmly in the upper reaches of the table after a fine start to Holden’s first full season at the helm. It promises to be a hotly-contested affair, as these games have been historically, with last season’s two meetings producing just one goal between them with the teams evenly-matched. Swansea will head to Ashton Gate searching for just a second win there in 27 years, but with an unbeaten away record in league action that stretches back to February.
The last time we won there was a misty drizzly night game.....perhaps though it’s not night yet though it’s mizzly and possibly misty down near the river..... there again if clueless goes for a win and plays some football...

Freddie Woodman continues in goal, with new signing Ryan Bennett again lining up alongside Marc Guehi and Ben Cabango in a three-man defence. Connor Roberts and Jake Bidwell are the wing-backs, while Fulton joins captain Matt Grimes and ex-Robin Korey Smith in the middle of the park. Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe will lead the Swansea attack. Substitutes: Max O'Leary, Jack Hunt, Famara Diedhiou, Callum O'Dowda, Nahki Wells, Tommy Rowe, Tyreeq Bakinson. Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Ben Cabango, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi; Connor Roberts, Korey Smith, Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe. Substitutes: Steven Benda, Ryan Manning, Viktor Gyokeres, Wayne Routledge, Liam Cullen, Yan Dhanda, Kyle Naughton. Referee: Oliver Langford
Think we should have started with Cullen. Lowe is out of form. would like to see Garrick on the bench, but keep forgetting that we don’t use subs.
Well I have decided not to outlay £10 today but will watch the rugby instead. So here's hoping for a change of fortune and a Swans win!
