Am I the only person that thinks we may have our much needed goal scorer actually playing for us every game? I say give him a chance in the forward role and see what he can do, he's got decent speed, a good turn, good touches and generally a cool head which he's not shy of putting in danger! He's full of energy and would still be troubling defences right up till the final whistle. I say give Luke Terry O'Nien a chance up front. He's scored a few already, including a couple of flying headers which most players would have pulled out of and he's also strong enough to hold up play when needed. Okay, shoot me down, but I think its worth a go, if he can be spared from every other position he fills in for. If this has already been argued, sorry, I missed it.
I'd say he'd make as good a striker as he would a defender which is to say that he'd do well. If anything I rate his attacking play as better than his defensive. Can't imagine him hiding behind defenders and falling over constantly can you. He'd bust a gut to get on the end of everything.
Luke was certainly not born to be a striker, but it is hard to see that he would be inferior to those we have.
Gooch would be worth a try as a striker too. He played there a few times for the under 23s and it's his favoured position. He knows where the net is when he gets the chance
I watched his video highlights for Wycombe just when we signed him. All his goals, and there were a few, were from his midfield position. I thought a right back was priority so he could go back in midfield. The box to box player we may have been missing.
I’d go with this if I was taking a punt. I think he’s a tidy finisher, his size be a massive issue at this level as an out and out striker though.
Defoe wasn't big but a good finisher, a certain mr Phillips fits that bill as well, so i cant see why size would be a big issue, but your more up than me on the footy, all i see in this league is mostly big slow defenders, where a nippy striker gives them grief.
Could go either way mate, just that a lot of the game at this level is swinging balls in or long diagonals, Phillips had Quinn. It could work if we kept the ball on the deck, which to be fair we do more than others in the league.
Funny enough I had the same thought yesterday. Phillips wasn't always a striker. I didn't post it though for fear of a backlash
Wyke is looking sharp right now and putting a lot of graft in. One thing for sure is that O'Nien would give his all where ever he plays.
have no trouble with Wyke looking sharpe, and putting the graft in im happy with that. My only wish would be for PP to send him on an outward bound course as well, so when he came back, if we got him the grid references he will know where the net is
