food banks are not rivals or a chosen alternative to local shops ffs I don’t even see that as an argument to be honest !

 

Yep, they're all rolling around in tellies and smartphones, whilst honest blokes go out to work and make peanuts.

It was an argument raised by local shopkeepers, who noticed a measurable drop in trade when foodbanks opened nearby.

 

Do you know how foodbanks operate? Do you honestly think they're like a free supermarket?

 

Then it’s a bigger issue than I suspect

The system is flawed because it is abused by so many. The system is abused by everyone, from MPs, billionaires, to the bourgeoisie, to the ordinary man/woman/LBGTQ on the street. Everyone is on the take.

The system relies on taxing folk who are working and giving it to others through a bloated civil service who then apportion others people's taxed earnings to others.

This isn't just about giving folk enough benefits, tax pays MPs money, gives them powers to operate the State, the whole civil service and public sector who are wholly unaffected from the current climate despite not generating any income for the country, yet they are using future profits of the private sector to pay for the current shambolic distribution of money to all and sundry, including "the consultants" who are second only to MPs for syphoning money out the State and stealing a living.

Personally, I'd rather give a foodbank £2000 a week than pay another penny of tax to help fund this grotesque political class who are not acting in the national interest and governing using fear propaganda and causing more deaths than a virus ever will.

We've been told for years there's no magic money tree (there isn't) but they mortgaged our grandkids' futures to save granny, the problem is that granny has heart disease and dementia and is of no use to anyone including herself and probably wants to die now anyway.

Reduce the State, enlarge societal generosity and take responsibility for your community.

 

I think we’re all grateful Pete doesn’t require a food bank.
