The sea cools down slower than the land and heats up less slowly. Which is why it is better swimming late September/early October than late May/early June though the weather may be warmer then. Which is why a lot of visitors get in trouble as they dash off into the sea in the early months in warm weather and find it very cold. There was a surprising number of people swimming and paddleboarding at Brid a couple of weeks ago though it was an overcast day.

Absorbing facts. I'll need to reflect on that and conduct more research.

Yes, best avoiding Norwich. Would be a downer returning to Hull after sampling the delights there.

Having been on the Broads before Norwich is best avoided as it's too busy, and the moorings there are noisy. We also avoid Wroxham for the same reason, that and its Roys of Wroxham tat shops. We go to the Broads for peace and quiet and to relax.

Agree Wroxham is too busy. Though there is a good pub/restaurant there to watch the boats going by. Like Horning. Great choice of places to eat for a place with only about 1,500 residents. Wouldn't mind one of the houses along the riverbank within walking difference of the New Inn. Would need 6 numbers to come up though. There are a lot of very attractive villages there.

Stayed in an air B and B in Reeth, near Richmond. Possibly the most wonderful little village in that county. We are looking at moving to the Dales in the next few years, so it was an opportunity for my wife to sample it for real.

Went up to Glasgow to see my mother in law, little one was car sick on the way home and just to make sure I couldn’t breathe, she shat herself for good measure. Windows wouldn’t open because of the sun shades.

Off to Mallorca next Summer holidays for Orlagh’s first holiday abroad. If she cacks it on the plane, at least everybody else will suffer.

I do like Mallorca, although we decided that we will not go back, simply because as a diver there are not enough fish in the sea.

You also get the vultures on Wroxham bridge, camera phones at the ready, waiting to see who can hit the bridge. When we went the tide was too high to pass under, so we turned around and headed back towards Horning. I took a wrong turning into a private dyke (matron!) and had to turn the boat around, not easy turning a 37' boat in about a 60'* wide dyke. Luckily I managed it without hitting any private boats moored there.

*Probably wider but it seemed to become narrower with every manoeuvre.

Entertaining watching people navigating Potter Heigham Bridge as well whilst having a beer in the garden of the not so great pub nearby.

Doesn't have to be a sad thread, post some happy memories or plans for the future.

I am luckily on one long holiday out here, couldn't be better, beautiful weather, foods great and I am about as far as Hull to Hornsea from the coast. When there a few weeks ago, stayed in a 3 star hotel which was lovely for £20 a night. Heineken 50p a bottle what's not to like.
