Not what I’d rate as a great Monday. Defeat to a poxy og and we go into full lockdown for at least six weeks here. Can’t wait for tomorrow
At least we only have to wait until Friday for the next game. Trust me...much of tonight was very good
Meslier 7. Couple of dodgy passes out but other than that his distribution was very good. Couple of run of the mill saves and one which was outstanding. Not for the save itself but the intelligent positioning. We've got ourselves a good un. Ayling 7. Unbelievable workrate. Couple of his crosses are still in the stand. Very good at starting our attacks. Struijk 7. Outpaced a couple of times by Wolves counter attacks and his slip ultimately cost us. His passing is sublime though and looks every bit a first team regular. Looked very calm. Off injured though. Koch 9. Fantastic. Defended well, brought it out of defence well. Great range of passing. Strong in the tackle. Looks an upgrade on White if this form continues. Dallas 6. Hands full with Neto and co. Managed Traore better. Wouldn't say he came worse off against Wolves tricky wingers but he didn't really manage to get a grip of them either. Phillips 6. His defensive positioning was excellent as ever covering for others. Passing was off. Another who struggled for pace at times. One of his poorer efforts. Klich 8. Rinse and repeat for any other Klich performance. Mr Consistent. Tireless, solid passing, intelligent movement. A key player in Bielsaball. Finished up playing the Phillips role after Phillips moved to centre back. Rodrigo 7. Great first half. Quiet second half. Class act. Takes defenders out of the game with his clever lay offs. Set up many opportunities for others to get in behind or have a pop at goal. Probably should have done better with a couple of half chances. Costa 7. Gave the ball away at times but was a real handful. The first half an hour was the best I have seen him in a Leeds shirt. Wolves quietened him as the game wore on. Harrison 7. Would have scored higher but for his lack of end product. Really frustrating game from him. He has everything to be as good as anyone in the world but his final ball..... Bamford 6. Back to Championship Bamford. Great workrate. No end product. Missed a good chance early on his favoured foot. Couple of half chances with headers. He shouldn't have been caught offside for the one he did put in the net. Wolves defence found it easy to play past him. Can't fault his effort though. Subs. Poveda 6. Didn't really impact the game. Had a good chance at the end that he couldn't bring under his spell. Hernandez 7. Impacted the game in a positive way. Gave us fresh impetus. Continuously probed the Wolves defence but could find no gaps. Had a good chance at the end but was crowded out. Good to have him back. Raphinha 6. The good, the bad...! Popped up left and right. One decent cross. A couple of wayward ones. Debut out of the way.
You sound like Jammy now. I've no problems with opinions London, but facts are better and it's a fact that Philips scored the goal that got us beaten. Personally I thought he had a poor game. But I know we can't criticise him.
Meslier - 7 - Two very good saves but his long range passing needs to improve. Couldn't do anything about the goal. Ayling - 6 - Good first half but really struggled in the second. Kept giving the ball away. Koch - 8 - MOTM - Absolute steal for the price if he keeps his form up. Good passer, great at reading strikers and made some good challenges. Struijk - 6 - Thought he played pretty well and is an adequate replacement for Cooper. Hopefully he was taken off as a precaution more than anything. Marked him down for the slip when the ball was played to Jimenez. Dallas - 6 - Good game against some very good attackers but lost his man a couple of times. Was never going to be easy on his side but he's not going to play the same quality of wingers as he has in this opening 5 games every week. Phillips - 5 - Not sure if its the England games or something else but he's probably had the worst start to the season out of all the players. By no means terrible however he just doesn't look himself at the moment. Taking too long on the ball and passing isn't up to his usual standard. Unlucky with the OG. Costa - 5 - Looked a class act in the first half but was non existent in the second. Story of his season. He's going past players with his pace and trickery at some points but getting shoved off of the ball too easily at other points. Good to see Poveda and Raphinha as competition for his and Harrisons places. Rodrigo - 7 - He is a class act, he just needs some of the other players to be on his wavelength. Made some good little clever passes that were wasted by his teammates. Klich - 7 - Never stops running, always gives his all and attacks/defends very well. Integral to our system. Harrison - 5 - Wasn't his game today. Crossing was poor, no end product and kept the ball for too long at certain points. Frustrating. At one point Rodrigo did a clever backheel to Harrison who should've drilled it into the box or stuck it on someone's head instead he hit it over everyone. Bamford - 6 - Pressed well but didn't do much more. Hard day at the office for him. Should've done better with his chance earlier in the game. If we're going to do anything in this league you need to take the minimal chances you get. Poveda - 5 - Didn't see a lot of the ball, hard to rate but can't give him more than Costa as I don't think he added more than Costa. Hernandez - 6 - Tried to dictate the play but once Wolves were 1-0 up they were very solid and there weren't many gaps. Raphinha - 6 - Looked sharp, quick and put a good ball into the box that could've ended in a goal. Decent debut. Looking forward to him getting more minutes. Overall - Very good first half but a pretty poor second half. Should've taken one of our chances in the first half. Disappointing result against a good side that will be up there come the end of the season. Considering this we could've won the game and probably should've at least got a draw out of it. Unlucky goal to concede and on another day we win that game 1-0. Shame about the result but there were a lot of good things and decent performances to show that we will stay up and probably go a lot further than that if we can build on parts of this game.
I never said he played well, you’re right in that he was poor 2nd half. I was pointing out how many times Ayling lost the ball (I’m a big fan of his incidentally). His poor pass led to their long ball when we had so many players committed forward. Struijk unfortunately slipped. KP stuck it in the net but there was a whole passage of play that made us defend it so badly funnelling back into position because of what went on before.
You are both wrong it was bamfords fault for missing a chance earlier in the game. If he had not done so then that passage of play would never had happened he altered the time continuem causing a rift in the timeline.
Like the alternate opinion. Never thought of it like that. That said, goals change games but not really for us, we play the same whatever the score line
