The contact details of those who have been instructed to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace are to be passed to the police on request, in a move that has alarmed senior health figures who are concerned it will undermine confidence in and co-operation with testing regime, HSJ has learned.

 

Surely people will just remove the app from their device?

 

this has nothing to do with the app which is where the privacy concerns were raised . This is just giving them access to data to prove someone has been told to self isolate when they claim they haven't .

 

But surely though some of that information would have come from the app, no?

No idea, but I defo will not be dowloading the app now. Not that I wouldn't self-isolate but just out of principle. Aber will love this story.

 

no it comes from the test request and then the result which will be recorded on an Excel spreadsheet .
They could be lying about the app data not recording who you are but i doubt that as they are using apple & google approved tech .

 

So if I downloaded the app and I reported via it I have covid, I'm declaring information that could be passed to the police surely?

So in my head I'm thinking, I could decide not to download the app, because I don't want coppers knocking on my door checking that i'm self-isolating. Not that I wouldn't be, but it's no business of the cops.

 

I'm confused even more than ever now.

 

as far as i know there is no way of doing that and how would you know if you haven't been tested ?

 

So what's the point of the app then?

I've been tested by the hospital, albeit that was at least 4 months back now.

 

all that report says is that if Plod get a complaint about someone who should be self isolating not doing so they can check the list of confirmed cases to see if they are on it .
From what i can see the app has nowt to do with this .
