This is not just a load of coblers we owe them for last season. Think we only played them once and we lost that one at their's. Good enough reason for revenge if we needed to have one. We have a reasonable record against Northampton and they have not had the best of starts this term. We can surely win this one can't we? Of course we can.

They did surprise everyone by getting promoted from 7th position last season...quite easily in the end.....but this season they've been garbage.....we need to to keep them being garbage.....winning home games this season is important to keeping us safe in at least mid-table.

I do not see Timmy Abraham being a starter against Northampton....maybe on the bench....but even then he has hardly any league experience.....when at Bristol R's he only had a few minutes as a sub during his four games before shut-down.....no time at all to prove anything one way or the other......bit of a mystery how he was lined up for a £2 million move to Germany and then in a U21 set-up.....played a little cup football for Fulham but obviously not near their first team squad to be kept.

If he starts it will be because of some arrangement between the clubs....which doesn't seem Ryan Lowe's way of doing things.

Northampton go long to a tall CF so ee should get plenty of time on the ball.

Having said that, they have changed their set up.

Argyle comfortable throughout the first half but largely stifled by Northampton massed 11 man defence.

    1-0...H/T...Nouble...41 mins

Definate penalty for Argyle around 2 minutes....the ball hit the inside of the defenders arm in front of the goal....we just got a corner.

The Refs being conned at times with Northampton players falling over.

We do seem to be getting considerably more than our share of fouls given against us.

Well 3 points and it would have been an utter travesty if Northampton had got anything.

Up to 6th but tougher games to come: Lincoln and Doncaster to come this month.

    Argyle,,,Nouble...41mins Watts...86mins...2-1...Northampton...Korboa...62mins......F/T.

A little lucky to win today....so much possession so little end product.

Just cannot see our defence getting away with performances like that every week.

Also just not enough shots on goal for all that possession.

Nouble my man of the match.....also Watts played well.....and Michael Cooper saved when necessary.

Hard to make sense of the stats...Argyle had 65% of the possession....16 shots at goal and only 4 on target....Northampton with only 35% possession had 15 shots and 6 shots on target....Argyle played.a lot of pretty football but struggled in their penalty area to make it count....Nouble was by far the No1 threat....Jephcott had a quiet game.

Lolos needs some football somewhere....to be bypassed for Abrahams who has far less league experience....never played more than an handful of minutes in any league game as yet.

We weren't lucky to win and it would, as notdistant said, have been a travesty had Northampton got anything out of that. Rather than lucky I would have said we simply made hard work of it and Northampton played a virtual negative game. Not one for the purists that one but 3 points nevertheless.

I felt a bit sorry for Jephcott today. He got no kind of service at all so looked mostly out of the game. If we want him to play well then we have got to provide him with the chances. Give him the chances and he will take them. There weren't any poor performances today but there were a couple that perhaps could have been better. My MOM would be Nouble even if the write up on the beeb football site said Cooper. The worst performance in the ground was the cameraman who seemed to want to follow the ball everywhere and show it in relative close up. He spoilt the coverage a bit. The Referee was rubbish. He gave 5 yellow cards for relatively little and didn't give cards where it seemed to merit one. I agree he missed the penalty shout for handball and it looked a dead cert to me. VAR would have sorted it out. Unless they improve I think Northampton will be back in league 2 next season. Worst team so far.

Absolutely not lucky, the better side by a country mile, frustrated by a Northampton team that came looking for a 0-0 and nothing else. What a compliment that is.

Yes, we can do better but here we are in 6th and surely we'd all have settled for that before a ball was kicked.

The goal conceded came from a quick breakaway when the back 3 were trying to score from a corner. Work is needed to make sure that doesn't happen again but in open play, they didn't bother us much at all. Cooper had one save and that was about it. Our problem was breaking down that 11 man defence. As we see from the World Cup all the way down through the leagues, if your opponents play like that, as they are entitled to do, it can be hard to make chances.

Argyle had 16 shots and 4 were on target......Northampton had 15 shots and 6 on targets which ain't bad from only 35% of possession.....but of course they only came for a point.....not quite true...accept for our keeper and Watts our defending looked rather shaky at times and will have to improve....personally I think we're one quality defender short.

......And while I'm having a moan two other things that annoyed me.

!.....The Referee.....how many Refs have played football let alone professional football....this one was a sucker for the artistic foul....one occasion when an Argyle player came up behind a Northampton player with the ball....never quite got near enough for contact but the Northampton player jump up in the air and dived forward as if he had been badly thrown to the ground....the Ref was only 10 yards away and instantly blew for a foul.....was he the only person on the field that didn't see what happened.....another occasion near the end of the match when he gave another non-existent foul.....which obviously got the inexperienced Timmy Abraham seeing red....who then starting arguing with the Ref....could of got a yellow easily....just needed an Argyle player to shepherd him away from the Ref....which I didn't notice happening...as I said he could easily have been booked because of his inexperience of this being unfortunately the norm.

2.....ifollow cameraman and match commentators.....had the cameraman been up all night with his new born baby ?....he at times seem to fall asleep and not keep up with the play.....so noticeable with only one camera.
The commentators were so busy at one stage talking about what had happened awhile back that what was happening on the pitch seemed to be unimportant.....a Northampton player got booked for a bad foul and Argyle had a free kick which came to nothing....the commentators pick up the match again after all this had happened without any mention of what had just taken place.

I might not bother to pay for this one camera "entertainment" too often.....no close ups or alternative views to get a full grasp of what is happening and commentators that are easily distracted from what we are seeing at the time.
Quite often enjoy following on BBC teletext and this allows me to check comments on other websites.

PS.....Picture froze too often yesterday and I had to come completely out and reload it all again....not at all relaxing to watch......end of moan (for now).

I agree about the ref, but then, we always do agree on that. Surprise, surprise there was a bad challenge on Mayor: he rightly played advantage and Argyle had a shot which missed. If it had been me, I'd have then gone back and given the free kick but he didn't. He didn't even speak to the offender. He suckered by dives, gave cards for nothing and then let cynical deliberate fouls pass without remark. What else is new?

I have to say I've got the hang of iFollow. How fast is your Internet connection? I had assumed we were only getting 1 camera because extra camera men weren't allowed in the stadium. However, in the commentary yesterday, it was mentioned that they can see the 4 cameras. I suppose the problem is that the broadcasting suite where all the knows and switches are is too small to hold the number of people needed in safety.

Asked if he's thrilled to be top 6, Ryan Lowe says no, he expects to compete and win games. Dontcha love him?
