The disappointing thing is 20 minutes a man up and not a single shot on target.

It’s very strange, we’ve gone from a team who was scintillating you watch, creating loads of chances, to completely bereft of ideas and predictable. Actually easy to defend against.

It makes no sense because it was all there early in the season against Man City and so on, but just disappeared.

Exactly. If we win this, and avoid a disaster against Wycombe, Farke's place is more or less secured for the time being.

I don't think anyone understands it, Rob.

My guess (and it is only speculation) is that Farke couldn't cope with creative players who have an attitude (as creative players tend to have), so they all end up on the naughty step or playing when they don't really feel committed and we have no creativity at all.

20 shots only 6 on target. Dominated possession

95 minute penalty winner. This game has had just about everything. Norwich saved penalty, Rotherham man sent off, Norwich very late penalty Oh, and an Rotherham own goal. Lady Luck smiled on us today. Farke has received a reprieve.

    Right. Good result. Poor performance.

But we need points now, so I don’t really care.

The key thing for me is we have to use this to kick on and find some form. If Farke can’t build confidence again from here then the writing is on the wall.

Bit of luck changes a lot, but let’s face it when you look at the stats we probably deserved to win this one narrowly.

    Cheers me up <ok>

Know what you mean, Rob, but Hugill
and Pukki both had shots on target and Hugill scored the penalty. The luck went our way in the end. I'll take it after what happened against Derby. We needed the 3 points and we got them. That'll do.

It started the day we decided to change our game plan from free flow attacking football to tighten up defensively. With a couple of exceptions all the key players from our last promotion are still at the club and this time we have greater strength in depth. the haven't got worse in the last 2 years. The difference now is expectation. It's a mindset that needs to change. On the positive side despite all the distractions of the transfer window and a poor start we are 11th in the table and 2 pointes off a promotion place. Hopefully in the coming weeks DF will be able to improve confidence

Spent most of the game refreshing the page and listening to Radio Norwich the bits I did see weren't good, Buendia looks to always be taking on the whole team by himself and runs into defenders losing possession, Krul had another oopsie but saved a pen which makes up for it.
The own goal was fortunate and we got a penalty at the death which I didn't see.

Expecting a loss got a surprise win but Rotherham are not that good and we needed an o g a red card and a penalty to pull it off.

It's all about the 3 points and winning away from home from a losing position.

I may have to get on free view and watch Quest later .

    Heady days

An own goal and a last minute penalty.

Whilst three points are always welcome, especially given the fact that this is only our second win since February, let's not pretened that this is anything other than a very fortunate result. Rotherham beat themselves as much as we beat them.

That's true really, except that Buendia's trickery earned us the penalty and the win in the end. I listened to the Rotherham commentary and they were impressed by us while being gutted about losing, as they should be - their players have everything. Wins bring confidence though and we now have two home games against Birmingham and Wycombe. OTBC!

Just watched Sky Sports highlights Hanley very slow to react to the though ball for Rotherham goal. Signs of a long lay-off?

Interestingly last week we put in a good performance and were very unfortunate not to win convincingly, but there were plenty of people on here that were very keen to pretend it was something much more than a very unfortunate result.

Should we be surprised ? He hasn't played for months and this is his first full game back, it takes time and playing time to get up to game speed.

If you look back at that matchday thread you'll notice that I wasn't one of them.

We deserved more from that game, but saying we deserved to win 'convincingly' is absolute nonsense.

I'm convinced if Pukki had scored the penalty against Derby we would have gone on to win convincingly. If we had we would have been in a play off place and only 3 points off an auto place.

Now I don't think anyone on here has tried to blame DF for Pukki missing the penalty, however plenty of people appear to have written DF off and at least one poster last week was convinced we were heading for League 1. The Championship is arguably the most competitive league in Europe and despite some mixed performances we are doing fairly well, when you factor in the losing run we had in the PL and all the distraction of the transfer window. I'm not saying everything is great but we can build on our reasonable start to the season. By any measure we are in a much better position now than we were at this point in our championship winning season.

I said we were unlucky not to win convincingly, had Pukki's penalty gone in it would have totally changed the game, on such small margins things are balanced. At that point the Derby smash and grab option would have gone I think the game would have opened up and we would have scored more. Their GK also made 2 fantastic saves on another more fortunate day we could have had at least 3.

I never said you were one of them, but at least 2 of the 3 posters that have like your comment so far were.

The point is last week we lost and apparently it was all down to DF's incompetence, this week we won and it was very fortunate.
