Good Morning. It's Monday 12th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Cooper and Llorente injured on International duty Leeds face a defensive injury crisis following two of their stars having to pull out of their Countries remaining Nations League fixtures. Leeds Captain Liam Cooper was omitted from Sunday nights Nations League clash with Slovakia after picking up a knock in training. He will also miss Wednesday's tie against the Czech Republic. Scotland boss Steve Clarke said: “Unfortunately, Liam Cooper has picked up an injury and he will be out for the next two games.” Fellow centre-back Diego Llorente also picked up an injury whilst on international duty with Spain. Llorente suffered a muscular injury and therefore withdrew from the squad ahead of Tuesday’s game against Ukraine. Fortunately, it seems both injuries are minor, but should expect Robin Koch - Struijk partnership at the heart of Leeds defence when they entertain Wolves a week today. please log in to view this image PL condemn EFL Chairman Parry for backing 'hostile takeover' plan EFL chairman Rick Parry has been publicly condemned after he backed a shake-up of English football which the Premier League describe as 'a hostile takeover'. Liverpool’s owners, The Fenway Sports Group are believed to have put together a plan, aimed at giving bigger clubs more power over what happens in the English game, reduce the Premier League to 18 clubs and overhaul the League Cup. The Community Shield would be scrapped in exchange for a £250m bail out for the EFL. Unfortunately, the Premier League see the move as a hostile takeover and have criticised EFL chairman Parry publicly saying the proposal could “have a damaging impact on the whole game”. The Premier League statement said: “In the Premier League’s view, a number of the individual proposals in the plan published today could have a damaging impact on the whole game and we are disappointed to see that Rick Parry, Chair of the EFL, has given his on-the-record support.” A spokesman for the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport said: ”We are surprised and disappointed that at a time of crisis when we have urged the top tiers of professional football to come together and finalise a deal to help lower league clubs there appear to be backroom deals being cooked up that would create a closed shop at the very top of the game. “Sustainability, integrity and fair competition are absolutely paramount and anything that may undermine them is deeply troubling. Fans must be front of all our minds, and this shows why our fan led review of football governance will be so critical.” An angry Rick Parry responded: “The Premier League could have come up with proposals at any stage. They could have sold the short term issue of our rescue funding a lot quicker. For whatever reason, they haven't. So we are where we are. “But this is actually about coming out with a bold plan for the future. And if that doesn't please everybody, frankly, so be it. But, you know, am I ashamed but backing what I consider to be a hugely bold plan? No, I'm not. “From the EFL point of view, it can't happen quickly enough. I think you'll find that our clubs will be absolutely motivated to try and get things moving. Bringing about change is never easy. It's rarely quick, but we are absolutely going to give it our very best shot. “The story is it's two of our great clubs. Showing leadership when it's needed. Exercising great responsibility. And from the EFL point of view, of course, it's providing long term hope. “It's making our club sustainable. It's bridging the gap between the top of the championship, the bottom and the Premier League.” please log in to view this image Leeds in prime position to land Todd Cantwell before Friday deadline Norwich and England U21 International Todd Cantwell is expected to join Leeds before the 5pm deadline this Friday. The 22-year-old playmaker has been left out of the Canaries’ last two Championship matches against Bournemouth and Derby due to a lack of focus according to head coach Daniel Farke. Are Leeds prepared to splash out 20m for what many consider, a player for the future. Remember, we came close to losing Kalvin Phillips to Villa for 30m. If it wasn't for Orta, the England midfielder may now be playing in claret and blue! Do you think Cantwell is two thirds the player Phillips was last season when he was in the Championship? please log in to view this image
Morning all Gutted that we are down 2 players because if the Internationals, peed off big time. The Big 6 power grab can go do one because this is all about money and power and the big 6 would end up dictating what happens in future and would be the start of a European league. Its now obvious that this wont end well but we can now see that this is the start of big changes in English football, a big change is coming and that could mean something like the big 6 being told to leave. But something will happen without a doubt. Still nothing about Cantwell except from a couple of clickbait sites and Cantwells people. I dont think we want him
Good Morning all The situation regarding the defenders is not ideal but to put it into perspective, we will have the same two defenders playing together who started the first game against Liverpool. Koch has a few more games and practice sessions under his belt, Struijk will be hungry to impress, he is a big tall unit and we are not playing the best attack in the country like we were against Liverpool If Bielsa wants Cantwell let's get him, if he doesn't see him as challenging for the first team this season let us leave well alone
Do you think we'll be in for anyone else or are we thinking Bielsa/Leeds are done and happy with the window?
I don't think we will go for Cantwell but he is basically another Klich. He is 22. Proven at PL level. Has scope for improvement. Would have a resale value. Is better than Roberts in that position. If we want Rodrigo in there then leave well alone. Would be great for 10-15 million though.
I know we were very interested in Benrhama but his holiday video changed Bielsas mind. West Ham have gone for him with a £17m and as its the only bid Brentford have had they may get him, but its also possible we go in with a higher bid but Bielsa would have changed his mind again, so not sure. Not many others about but Derby have a 19yo called Louie Sibley who Orta loves, so watch this space. Rodrigo is a Rolls Royce player because he can play anywhere in the front 3 or at 10. Would be nice to see him up front but hes too good to be left on the bench and it could be Bielsa brought him in to replace Pablo and give cover all over the attacking players
Yes. My thoughts too. Basically if Rodrigo is to play up front then happy to get Cantwell. If Rodrigo is to play at 10 then leave Cantwell.
Cantwell is a excellent player & would be a useful addition to our squad I do wonder if those who are against his signing have actually seen him play please log in to view this image he's definitely premier league quality. Bielsa will make Todd an even better player!
Danny Mills now gobbing off that if Phillips keeps up his present form for club and country he will be chased by top clubs next season. I have 3 points to make on that: How shortsighted would we have been if Radz had accepted the £21m Villa offered us last season, when he could be worth £70m soon and he looked class for England last night. Well done Kalvin and Radz If we get relegated then yes we may lose Kalvin. Even if Juventus or Barcelona came knocking no way would Kalvin leave his home town club. He sees his gran constantly and his mum so unless he moved the whole family ...
I think the issue is about how we replace Klich if injured/suspended/knackered - unless people think Jamie Shackleton is an edequate replacement. I like Jamie, but because of injury and klich's form we've seldom seen him get a run. we were definitely looking at midfielders who could be competition for klich. Is Cantwell that guy... can;t say i've seen enough of him, but get the impression he's versatile... covers 10 and 8 and wide left. He would add to our growing list of left-footed attackers... harrison, costa, rodrigo, bamford, raphinha, poveda Only roberts and hernandez favour their right.
Think you’re probably right, the Forshaw extended injury might have Bielsa ready to scrap him from future plans
Leeds Utd have made no official statement regarding Project Big Picture yet, but Radz has retweeted something from a journalist and fan saying there is no way Glazer should be running Man Utd never mind the Premier League. A bloke in Boston and another in the Everglades should have nothing to do with our football.
I'm getting angrier by the minute about this takeover. This is all about control. It's EXACTLY like Fart wanting our NHS on the table, so the Yanks can make loads of money out of it. Exactly the same. This is only the start, with sufficient hooks to catch the most vulnerable clubs, and stroke the rich clubs. Things will change after that. Promotion will be scrapped, á la US sport. The EFL money will be dropped altogether. 'Foreign' ownership may be banned - no doubt it will be US (& possibly UK) ownership only. How stupid are our clubs to think otherwise? 'Leaked' my arse, btw. This has been released in a calculated fashion, at a time when the english footballing world is at its most vulnerable - ever! They've allegedly been working on this for 3 years with no 'leaks'. Funny that, eh? This is nothing but a calculated takeover of english football with one single objective - to allow USAsians to make megamoney out of us stupid Brits. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in for one helluva shock.
Rick Parry wanted to do this over 3 years ago and has put this together with Glazer and Co and at the same time getting agreement from the other 4 clubs. Parry is supposed to be head of the EFL but working on the QT with Prem big 6. He says the 72 clubs will go for it because they are being bribed and given cash they wouldnt ever get. Covid is working great for these 6 clubs because they may win
This is the dawn of the football mafia I kid you not This is the dawn of the football Mafia. I kid you not
