Ridiculous. BT, Sky, NowTV, Amazon and now this? Could be the final step that pushes more people towards illegal streaming rather than subscriptions. Just fleecing people for all they have so that the league's top clubs and players can continue to roll in absolutely obscenely high wads of cash.
Hell of a lot of people have been pushed a long time. They've being trying to clamp down on it and then do something like this. Greedy ****s
Absolutely. Football is completely divorced from the real world as it is for most of its followers. Despite most of the rest of humanity suffering from the virus repercussions, the game is awash with money. It's hardly missed a step with wages, transfer fees etc yet still wants to screw yet more money out of a captive audience. Disgraceful.
I "liked" your post but i think it would be more accurate to say top level football as those criticisms imo don't apply further down the football pyramid .
Of course. I'm only talking about that level - it's what all of us on here follow and what we discuss primarily.
I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t get the beef. Before COVID all of the PL games weren’t available as part of your subscription, and the 3 pm Saturday games weren’t available legally at all. Since the restart, every game has been on Sky/BT/Amazon as no fans were allowed in and the PL agreed for the broadcasters to have the lot for no extra money. That was never going to last. Now they’ve said the broadcasters and their subscribers can have what they’re paying for, but the rest of the games can be shown but on a PPV basis. What’s wrong with that as a principle? I think the rumoured price point is tone deaf like, and I hope they revisit that, but the outcry about the principle is nonsensical imo.
I don't think the price is excessive tbh. Most PL teams charge between £30 and £50 per game to view live (plus all the extras of transport, food, programs etc) and people are happy with that. The same people quite often pay £15 for a ppv boxing match which conceivably could last less than 3mins (and many have) yet balk at that price to watch a guaranteed minimum of 90mins of the team they claim to love.
But when you're watching live you're paying for entry to the stadium rather than just the match, and watching on tv can never compare. Boxing isn't every week and you get 4 hours worth for each event, not 90 minutes.
I pay 15 notes just to park at the ground so I Iargely agree with that. I do think the price point is wrong though, as it’ll put off anyone barring a fan of either side playing imo. If they made it a tenner then I reckon the uptake would be far greater.
I appreciate that but if your'e honest most people just pay for the last fight and would probably not pay for any of the others. Like i said, an event that could possibly last less than 3mins vs an event featuring your idols that will be guaranteed to last a minimum 90mins which is worth the money?
But it's not gonna last less than 3 minutes as it's a whole evenings worth. I've never bought a PPV fight and only watched the main event and don't know anybody who has. Dickheads might have tbf, but you'd have to be a dickhead to pay 15 quid to watch Burnley v West Brom in an empty ground imo. Probably more guaranteed to see some action with boxing too so I don't think it's a fair comparison, especially as it's not every week either.
Just for context, a home matchday costs me & the Mrs about £80-90 in fuel, car parking and food, plus the cost of the ST’s. We’ve had 4 home league and cup games this season. So far this season I’ve seen every Everton game - 7 of them. 6 via Sky / BT / Amazon and a Carabao cup tie that wasn’t broadcast but I paid £10 for on Carabao Live. So the season so far has cost me a tenner and I’ve not missed a minute, as I pay for all those channels anyway & the games I couldn’t attend will be refunded by the club.
Fair enough mate, we all got our views As for the highlighted but, i/we have done it many times when my lad was still at home and had mates round, someone would say "what times the fight on" and would get a reply of 20mins or maybe a couple of hours which often ended with someone saying "should we buy it?" We all chucked a couple of quid in and watched the big un

It's alright comparing it to how much it costs to go to the stadium but not everyone as the luxury of being able to afford to go to the stadium. Some of us have to settle for the cheapest alternative of watching it on TV. It was bad enough when it wad just Sky. We've not got Sky, BT and Amazon. Now they want to add PPV to it too? **** it, let's clubs sell their own rights. I'll pay for the Liverpool channel and the rest can ****off!
