And then emerge to a bankrupt economy with no football clubs, theatres or music venues because they've all gone bust.
How do bars control toilet facilities? Do they monitor the toilet doors and limit access etc? Not football related but another aspect that will need to be considered.
The concourse/toilets I'm sure are the biggest issues when looking at this. I can only imagine they'll have stewards manning the doors. Think there was talk of having vendors walking around seating area too.
As far as I heard there will be no vaccine that removed this virus, only weakens it. Sorry, but we have to start living with this and getting on with life. There are plenty of ways to protect yourself if you are vulnerable - like don't go to football - but if you aren't then take reasonable precautions and get on with it.
Speaking of lack of fans and out of interest, has everyone who decided to lend the club some interest free money had their Spurs refunds? I've got a mate who's still awaiting a refund for last season's missed games. Piss poor that imo.
Yeah, me too. I renewed my season ticket trusting the club to do right by fans if something like this happened; and I also trust them to do everything in their power to manage the risk when we eventually get back in SMS. So far, they have tbf. But it's a lot of money to pull up in one lump sum then get back in dribs and grabs. I just want to get in the ground tbh, and so does my 90 year old dad. I understand that not everyone feels this way, but let the rest of us get on with it.
I say wait a few months before letting fans back into St Marys. I'd like us to get a few more home points before we revert to our old home form
I'm all for opening up stuff, but as much as I trust myself and everyone on here, I don't trust randoms in the Stadium at all. The reason we had lockdown part 1 was because of people ignoring the rules as "they don't apply to me". I'll give it a miss at the moment, but I am not knocking anyone else who wants to go..just not for me at this time.
I think I’d rather watch on TV than be in a half empty stadium with a muted atmosphere. grounds have been getting quieter with fans, so imagining a game without away fans present is not something to look forward too.
If they can openly it safely then yes. And then people can make the decision for themselves if they want to go with the risk in mind.
(It's madness that pubs are open though as they've been strongly implicated in mass spreading events)
Looks like they could be shut in some parts of the country come next week. I'm blaming northerners anyway, just let grounds south of Brum have fans
It's a tricky one because on the one hand you have the concourse, the toilets, every handrail, seatback etc being possible spreadpoints, plus the possibility that as we score the 8th past Liverpool, you will get hugged and kissed by a stranger* On the other hand, continued closure of many grounds up and down through the leagues will lead to a large number of clubs going to the wall. In order to keep grounds safe, it would take huge numbers of staff, or well drilled volunteers who could carry out duties like wiping down surfaces, handrails, turnstiles etc but it could be done and shown to be relatively risk free...as far as any large event can be anyway. Football is what holds a lot of towns together, socially. It's bigger than the game and we need to see the danger in losing some of the glue that makes communities what they are. *Sorry if I've ever been that stranger
If we ever get a 7th against Liverpool, I’ll pop in a mint, in anticipation of the 8th. Can’t say fairer than that.
Maybe the old World of capitalism, growth, the Premier League and continual population rise is gone. Perhaps it is time for a new way of living
Read recently that surfaces do not represent much danger for catching covid....keeping distance and wearing masks are far more important than constantly wiping surfaces (not that we should stop maintaining standards). I wonder if all this cleaning and handwashing will reduce the incidence of stomach upsets and other winter-related illnesses. It would seem unlikely that watching a match whilst sitting in the open would be much of a risk....though as said the toilets might be a risk....but then men's toilets always are. As a side issue....it is extremely difficult to type when you have a dog lying half way across the keyboard. Had to move his ear to hit the return button.
