David Ginola told Goals on Sunday he is enjoying watching the French revolution at Newcastle United.

Alan Pardew's side are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and their success has been influenced by several French-born players including Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Gabriel Obertan.

Ginola brought plenty of Gallic flair to St James' Park between 1995 and 1997 and feels French players understand the emotions of the Newcastle supporters and their desire to become major contenders in English football.

"I was talking about this last week on French TV because they obviously want to ask me questions about Newcastle," he said.

"I said it is nice to see French players succeeding there and bringing some emotion. We know the Geordies and the Toon Army want to be among the top teams in the country.

"Hopefully it will come one day and this year will probably be the start of all that."

Midfielder Cabaye has earned rave reviews for his displays this year and has stated that Ginola was one of his footballing heroes as a youngster.

And while they are yet to meet in person, Ginola says he has been impressed by the efforts of the 25-year-old so far.

"I haven't met him yet, but I think I will. I will probably go and watch some games at St James' Park," he said.

"He, like most of the players at Newcastle, has had a tremendous start to the season and he's a guy who can really bring something different to the club.

"He's a hard-working guy, he can create things for others and for himself, so I guess he's a good signing."

Another Frenchman, Hatem Ben Arfa, has just made his return to the Newcastle team after being sidelined since last October due to a serious leg injury.

And Ginola believes that when he is back to full fitness he will become one of the most influential players in the Premier League.

He said: "It's really difficult because when he was playing for Marseille, most of his critics were saying he was probably one of the best players of his generation.

"Unfortunately last season he was injured with a bad injury. He will come back one day and he will be one of the top players in this country.

"I said it when he signed for Newcastle and I really think it will be the case."

Ginola also said he is thrilled that his former club are flying high after their relegation three seasons years ago and he backed them to challenge for silverware this year.

"I'm very pleased for the fans," he said.

"They've got players up front who enjoy scoring goals for the club. Ba is one of the key players these days and hopefully they are going to end up with something this year."

I don't blame him. That screamer against Everton wasn't a fluke imo. Ben Arfa is the type of guy with the class and technique to pull **** like that off more than once.

Just been watching some of his highlights against Everton there actually and we need him starting back in the side ASAP. He really is a class above, and while we're doing great now, we could do even better (and do it more comfortably) with him in the side.

Just imagine being able to bring on either Ba or Best as a sub to try and bag goals against tired defences. Very potent.

I wonder how Cabaye will react to meeting Ginola? Sounds like he is a big fan of him from the earlier interview about knowing Newcastle because of Ginola.

It's good to hear from Ginola who will have a good understanding of how Newcastle United are perceived in France after their summer achats (that's French for purchases for all you Foreign Language rookies out there!)

Surprised he never mentioned anything about Marveaux like but sounds promising on the Ben Arfa, Cabaye front :)
