Pontefract 100 Dashing roger looks a decent 3yrold on the softer ground and 9/2 looks big . I will do a small rf with sea trout reach aswell as i think the fav hms president may be carrying to much.
The bumper tomorrow has two previous winners. Of the two I actually prefer the one that isnt favourite, Flying Sara but I am not convinced she will be as effective on a far different surface. The early gamble is Optimise Prime who has an ok pedigree, it will be interesting to see which way he goes in the market tomorrow. The nicest pedigree without doubt is that of One For You but given that he has already had wind surgery I can pass him over too. So by process of elimination the seletion is FULL SPES 18/1 Stratford 3:45 Two encouraging runs last year and by race time I think THE MICK PRESTON will have boosted the form. Greatrex has always done well here with his bumpers and this one looks overpriced.
All have ability , which one is more forward today ? I’ve done Settantii Girl , ran in a G3 last time after winning easy couple weeks previously on debut .......
Stratford 12:45 Writteninthesand Tom George has done well with his runners at Stratford over the last 5 seasons Stats for chases: Runs 37 Wins 7 Placed 12 PL 9.51 19 in the money from 37 runs is encouraging for each way purposes. This horse is a point winner and I'm sure chases were always the aim for connections so the runs over hurdles don't put me off. Stable had a winner at France last week.
Proper jumps season now! We've got two meetings off and a card on the all weather. The one I like today needs to defy the draw but in the 2:00 Kind Review takes the eye for the (can't believe I am saying this) in form Tracy Waggott.
Pontefract 1:30 Cool Possibility I like this one since he thrived on the AW before the shutdown and I'm still convinced he can earn some money on turf for connections racing of 10lb lower than last winning mark on the AW. Last time tried to make all and headed 3 out ridden by a 7lb apprentice. In my opinion Paul Mulrennan is a decent jockey booking for frontrunners. With the addition of tonge strap and visor I expect them to try and steal it from the front.
SETANTII GIRL 11/1 Pontefract 12:30 Won very nicely indeed on debut at Ripon on soft ground beating Charlie Fellowes who absolutely trotted up next time out, the fourth has also won since. Understandably she was upped in class to a Group 3 no less and was far from disgraced behind the very useful Umm Kulthum, the third that day has since won in listed company. Back in calmer waters and off a mark that could see her absolutely thrown in she looks worth a punt.
Went off at 100-30 !!!! Found only the favourite too good and I felt that she just got worried out of it. Jockey changed his whip hand a few times and she was little crowded by the winner a furlong out. Good place money but sadly no boom!
Wightman has a squeak in the last at Pontefract (15:30). Mick Channon's charge won over a mile at Salisbury on 3rd September when ridden by same 7lb claiming apprentice jockey George Bass.
