Jesus Rog, you sound like the man himself. You're quoting far-right networks pumping out Trump diatribe, so no wonder all you hear is lies about the man.

Although credit to you for quoting Robert Reich. Here's some of his takes on Trump and his policies, not just Biden... for a bit of balance

    Good stuff cheers.

A little while ago I debating with a friend of mine about climate change... now i do not profess to be an expert on this issue, although increasing population, industrialisation, must result in more pollution of several types and this must effect the world, that is my simplistic view. My acquaintance emailed a discredited research paper which skewed results about global warming. This to him meant all climate change was bunk.

I then emailed him two websites, one being the Royal Society (UK science body since Newton eyc) and the other NASA in the states who both have done some good science investigation into global warming.

However I still think my acquaintance prefers to go with the one discredited research article rather that the two respected science bodies.

I wonder about this, I am no psychologist, but perhaps some people will believe what they want to believe despite sheds loads of evidence to the contrary?

It is no coincidence that climate change deniers and Trump supporters go together..

Iirc my history wasn't Galileo put on trial for the temerity of saying the earth was in orbit round the sun, not the other way round...... there has always been those who can find facts unpalatable.. and choose alternative facts...

I hope after this fiasco as a president America will learn. You can’t put someone from a tv program to what is arguably the most important job in the world. The guy hasn’t got the ability to do the job. No experience in politics. I don’t really care about Republicans or Democrats. I want a leader who is going to set standards for the rest of the world to look at and admire. Make America great again. Oh my everyone is at each other’s throats. Hate breeds hate. The lying needs to stop and this country needs to take a honest look at itself. Look in the mirror now Mr President and you will see an orange face. What is that telling you? Not everything has to be fake.

Agreed. What IS America doing to itself? Wanting change and putting Trump in the Whitehouse has massively weakened the USA in the eyes of the world; he is a comic figure in the eyes of some and a dangerous loon to many outside of the USA.
The Democrats then put forward a 78-year old man as their choice for the most important role in the western democracy. Half way through his first term, at over 80, he will be fencing with the likes of Putin and the gangsters of Russia and Xi Jinping, leader of the Dark Star. I cannot imagine him wanting to go for a second term, even if he survives the first one. Many 80-year-olds want nothing more than a cocoa and and afternoon nap.
The American people are being manipulated and are pulling themselves apart as a nation. They should heed the Obama speech if they are to get through this turmoil. It is in our interests that they do, not only because they are the only ones standing up to China in the Pacific and around the Philippines, but that they were there for us twice and we should never forget that.
Maybe the ballot box should have three options: Trump, Biden, or neither of those two!
Should the ‘neither’ win, then They could rerun the election, without those names on the ballot and perhaps put Michelle Obama as an option.
I Personally hope that she will one day take up the challenge and maybe some sanity will return to the White House.

I don't think Biden is seen as a two term President. The dream ticket for many here was Biden and Michelle Obama with her taking over in time. It seems she wants to keep away from the political arena at the moment hence Biden has gone with Kamala Harris. If Biden wins then in time she would probably be the next president. Biden's popularity I think comes from the fact that the USA needs to come together and heal. To me the last four years on many levels has been a disaster both Internationally and Domestically for the USA. Hopefully in November the country can head towards some calmer waters. Cross the bridge with the other nut jobs that's out there when it gets there.
Me at my age.....I want cocoa, naps and Sunderland to get out of League 1.

What happens if say Trump does die before election day? Will the election have to be put back? So new ballot papers can be printed with either Pence's name in the ballot or a new Republican candidates name? will they still host the election as it is but throw out any votes for Trump?

American politics is a rather interesting and puzzling affair at times.

I find some of the USA & UK vox pop interviews quite frightening tbh ...

... some people are so totally entrenched, in their ideas, it chills me to the bone.

They remind me why I live in this daft little bubble.

I have had a drink mind while writing this, i do wear a mask, and take precautions like when the swine flu was about. Tip, drink bitter lemmon and put cider vinegar on your fish and chips, they are good for you they fight bacteria and viruses but remember to clean your choppers afterwards.

Possibly because there’s a vaccine to prevent it?

And there have been measles epidemics.

If we are ever in any doubt about another pointless world war happening again we might do well to remember that people voted for these 2 of their own free will.

I just realised we are in the 20s, I look back on 1920s as just so far away and yet we're living through our own version of the 20s, we haven't had a big war yet but history is gonna judge us just as harshly I think.

"In the 20s people willingly gave up their freedom to profit making social media companies who responded by using that information to learn how to manipulate them into voting for people that weren't fit to be managers of McDonald's never mind run countries, they also used social media to the point it made them ill, they were all pretending to be happy and content when really they were all having affairs and gambling money they didn't have, we know this because as you're all aware, we can audit their internet history, like a digital Pompeii, then if we can't find anything it's ok because they voluntary told the world even if they were just going to get a cup of coffee by posting again on social media"

I can literally hear a history lecturer talking about our 20s in this context.

Just been talking about this on Andrew Marr. Not Trump dying but if they need to put Pence forward as the emegency candidate. Very messy given the ballot papers have been mailed out...

Vaccine is the simple answer for measles.. The numbers for Covid are well below the true numbers in the UK. You just have to look at the numbers of deaths above the five year average and it now stands at around 65,000.

This scandal is going to be exposed shortly.

the government are inflating the virus figures and deliberately misrepresenting them.

the Mayor of Liverpool last night on twitter said that he is worried as the number of cases there is now 322 per 100000 - thats 0.3 per 100 = 0.3% - nobody checks, everyone blindly goes along with this. they are shutting down an entire region for this. Moronic.

the government will be brought down here - certain of it.

Its not that you aren't being given the figures - you are - its simply being misrepresented and over inflated. If people weren't so ****ing gullible and started to look for themselves they would soon see what the true position is. the government basically relies on your gullibility and you not bothering to check.

NHS empty, last week just 1800 out of 110000 NHS beds being used by virus patients, April to June 2020 just 50% of beds taken up - tens of thousands of excess deaths for absolutely no reason, Nightingale hospitals pointlessly and needlessly built at a cost of billions.

This virus is the biggest scandal of our time. A wealth transfer scheme for a corrupt government.

do you know how many people are in hospital with this virus in bolton? 2 - thats 2. In the video above Hancock is challenged on this and is basically left bumbling around like an idiot.

770 students at Northumbria test positive for a virus - none in hospital, none dead, none on ventilators, only 10% had common cold/flu like symptoms and the other 90% oblivious to having it.

Some virus when you have to be tested for it too see if you have it.
