Don’t think he’s wrong. The rate would be much lower if everyone played their part. It would still be around because people have to get on with their lives...total isolation is impossible...but people have to take personal responsibility. Mistakes have been made (and not just in this country as so many choose to believe), but you can’t use others mistakes as an excuse for bad behaviour on your part.

So you don’t think a man who refuses to wear a mask in public places, or who holds mass rallies where mask wearing isn’t mandatory, and who has, many times, scoffed at the necessity of wearing a mask, is in any way to blame for the people who hang on his every word doing the same as he does?

And at the beginning of the pandemic he bragged of shaking hands with covid patients .....ignoring all scientific advice.
He very much set a bad example from the beginning, and only this week he was filmed at a woodwork place ....with no mask and no social distancing at all.

Think Fran was referring to Boris. Whose narcissism is nowhere near Trumpian in it’s scale, and whose Covid failures are entirely down to incompetence rather than malice.

True, but the man is an incompetent gorilla who's been treading water for months, when things dont go his way its the publics fault for being to " blase" I think was the word he used. What a **** .

I always said that the minute Johnson refused to criticise Cummings for his unnecessary trip to the NE (quite possibly introducing CV into the hospital there) or his old man, this was going to cause the masses follow suit and he could turn round and say “it’s not our fault, it’s yours” - and surprise surprise look what’s happened ....
Funny that countries who locked down early, brought in proper rules re masks, etc and set up a proper track and trace system run by public health and not in the hands of their mates, are now able to gradually come out of lockdown and carefully get back towards ordinary life.
Of course, this total **** shambles in Westminster don’t give a flying **** for the ordinary public as long as they can stay with their snouts in the trough.
I will NEVER forgive or forget the mass murder they’ve inflicted on this country and their total “couldn’t care less” attitude. I hope the electorate remember at the next election though, sadly, I firmly believe they’ll follow what they’re told by the mainstream media which is controlled by right wing billionaires. And goodbye this country o once believed in .....

Totally agree about Cummings...an example should have been set. The Emperor's wife has to be above suspicion.

What, like France and Spain Dave. The reality is, all countries are still going to have a tough winter.

And think youre going waaaay over the top about the mass murder. There are many countries where that truly happens Dave, not here. There have been decisions that needed to be made, some decisions could have been taken sooner, some were not popular, but i think your “couldn’t care less attitude” is unfair, whilst taking into account i respect your view. I think to make these statements is far too simplistic. How about the thousands who haven’t been able to get treatment for cancer, heart issues etc.

It is a balancing act, and they have made many mistakes, and also got a lot right as well.

Not disputing that it’s a balancing act, Billy, but A. Deliberately releasing Covid positive patients into care homes instead of using the nightingale hospitals for which a fortune was paid. B. Sending students back to halls of residence so the universities could have their money. C. Reopening pubs after the Cummings fiasco and letting relations deliberately flout the law with no consequences. D. Giving huge sums of money for PPE (which then didn’t work or never turned up) to companies with personal ties to the government or their advisors with no adequate tender process.
I could go on and on ....
These were all great policies by a government on top of things.

Both France and Spain didn’t keep to the lockdown nor properly utilise track and trace - though they did better than here. I believe their death roll is lower too .....

I believe there is a neglect of corporate responsibility by this government and ignorance is no excuse in law.

Apologies Fran, I had been watching a clip of a Trump doing something and the orange idiot was lodged in my head. I think I might need therapy.

    Fair enough Dave.

I think we dont yet know all of the facts to your items, and if and when we do, i will take a view at the time.

I very much doubt you know the ins and outs of how France and Spain reacted - there were many on here in previous months lauding Spains efforts.

We also dont know how truthful other countries have been either.

I do think though, that we did need to open businesses, universities etc. So i dont blame the Gov for doing so. I think part of your view is simplistic for your generation, in that keeping everything closed is too simplistic, and affects people differently from different generations.

Anyhow, let’s not get too into it, it becomes too emotive :emoticon-0148-yes:

I’m amazed people are angry over Stanley Johnson not wearing a mask in a shop. I’m far more angry he didn’t wear a condom in 1964.
