I agree, Levy genuinely believes in Jose. When you consider the lack of outgoings, missing out on CL football, the no fans at game thing. It’s quite remarkable that this window has turned out how it has
Corona times have made this particular window play out as it has. Cash-flush clubs would be playing a much tougher transfer poker game with each other then they currently are.
Would now be a bad time to mention he also supported Villas-Boas in spite of missing out on CL football? The only manager it can genuinely be said he didn't support was Martin Jol, given he didn't intervene when it was clear than Comolli was ignoring his requests in a concerted effort to undermine him so he could work with Juande Ramos - which worked out really, really well for everyone involved...
Interesting thought from a poster on Ali Golds You Tube Veck3 days ago "I think Mourinho is starting to realize just how much of a hand-in-glove fit him and Spurs are. Mourinho thrives on siege mentality, us against the world, and Spurs are constantly getting shafted by the powers that be that seem to try so hard to stiffle our progress towards the true elite of european football. It wouldn't surprise me if he stayed on for more than 3 years."
I’m not so sure. I think Poch got too attached to some of these players that clouded his judgement when it came to selling/ replacing some of them in the latter years. Not saying it was all Poch’s fault but I think a lot of the “Levy Out” mob always wanted to point the finger at him when it was more a joint effort so to speak. I think Poch did have a short straw though in that he was manager during a period where we were using a lot funds for the new stadium so it was gonna be tough to have a window like we are now. That said, I’d say Levy’s delivering on his word that Spurs can begin acting like a big club with the right infrastructure in place. The last two windows have seen us bring in top quality and we’ve not been stingy on splashing out on a few pennies either. I won’t be expecting £100m windows every year but I think we’ll start seeing Spurs “act their size” from now on, rather than being the poor boys on the shoe string budget.
I’d be happy with that, Jose’s football isn’t always the most exciting but I do believe he can bring success to Spurs and we need to make sure he feels welcomed and at home at the club by providing the possibility of longevity.
He certainly supported him enough to spend £40m+ on Sanchez, Ndombele and Lo Celso The clear difference is the two manager's approach to transfer windows: Poch always looked to move players out before bringing his players in, which worked so well for him in his first couple of seasons as there were numerous players to move on - but this is what caused the issues in the summer of 2018, because we didn't move on players for various reasons (Dembele and Janssen injured, nobody remembering who Nkoudou was, and realistically we should have moved on Vorm for the sake of freeing up a non-HG place) and, coupled with bungling the move for Ndombele, this led to nothing happening in the market On the other hand, the ubermensch prefers to bring in players first and move players out later - although that is my main criticism of this window as, KWP aside, we haven't moved any players out and we seriously need to shift a few, most obviously Rose considering his lack of squad number Neither of these approaches is wrong, however, for example Poch liked working with a smaller squad and his approach maintained that during pre-season rather than having it bloated with a player who knew they were headed for the door hanging about the training ground for several weeks longer than they should, but the problem is that if he couldn't move out players and was unable to bring them in the approach backfired

WE would have struggled a lot more in Poch's time to cope with the crazy amount of fixtures we have atm. We are now able to field two separate 11's of decent quality. We saw that with the Chelsea game. I can't remember when we could do that before. That's not a criticism of Poch btw, it's a shame in many ways that we reached the CL final before we could realistically cope with it.
Weirdly, that's what ultimately undid LAdPCeV-B as he could also field one xi in the Premier League and one in the Europa League after the Baldini Splurge...but his constant chopping and changing meant that there was no continuity in the team, which was further hampered by him expecting the various players to play the exact same tactics that ultimately nerfed what they could bring to the table
A striker! ...the cynic in me has been thinking Poch wouldn’t sign anyone because he didn’t want to risk upsetting Kane...that was the culture anyway...now we can rest Kane when required get In the CB Jose wants and it’s been a 10/10 window from Levy.
I was on record in 2016 saying we should have tried to get Zlatan. Not that we could pay "pension mode" wages like Man Utd did, but because we could guarantee : 1. a start in every CL group game while Kane found his feet in that theatre 2. he would not have to face any wet winter wednesdays away, barring an injury plague I have no doubts we would have got the 8 pts needed to win the PL + gone far further in the CL that season. Hopefully the Benfica lad will enable a similar plan to be fulfilled.
