And going back to Saint Gary, I see today that the new BBC boss Tim Davie has said Please show me exactly where I said that? People earning over £150,000 already pay 45% tax which is more than fair, maybe over 6 figures another tax rate of 50% should be considered. I have been a tax payer for all of my working life and still pay tax now, that's 52 years unbroken so far. My problem is that there is a section of society that have been allowed to get away with the notion that being on benefits is a lifestyle choice and then spend their lives breeding the next generation of unemployed lifestyle choosers.
I kind of agree with you on that tax, but you miss the point. The issue isn't the tax amount so much as the tax avoidance. Which corporations and the super-rich do all the time. How can it be right that Amazon UK Services paid just £14m in tax last year through it's aggressive avoidance? Jeff Bezos is worth £150bn odd, he could solve world hunger overnight. That can't be right. And going back to what I've said about tabloids before, this benefits thing is another semi-myth that stirs up hatred but has no real basis in fact. Yes, there are some families and idiots who are lazy and can't be arsed. But nearly 90% of benefits claimants actually have a job - that doesn't say that they're lazy, that says that jobs don't pay enough for people to live on.
I will answer paragraph 2 first, I never said what you are suggesting. However there are far more than 'some' families, go virtually anywhere in the UK and there are dozens of people that I describe, usually causing problems for the police. It doesn't matter if this amounts to 1% or anything higher than that, being on benefits should not be allowed to be a lifestyle choice and sadly it is viewed as that by too many. As for paragraph one, the problem (again something that labour buried it's head in the sand over is thus) many smaller business's are using the covid pandemic as a means to slim it's workforce without any comeback. I suspect that many companies like Amazon would retaliate to tax hikes by simply sacking many of it's workforce and as such damaging the tax system more than it already does, by HMRC losing tax dollars from those working for such companies and then that tax being shelled in unemployment benefits. Is it correct and moral?, of course not but welcome to the real world and not the world according to Corbynites. And let us not forget the Sainted Nick Clegg, he who screwed the lib dems, students and many others, spent a lot of time bitching about companies not paying the requisite amount of tax and he now earns over 4mil per year working for FaceBook, you couldn't make it up.
LOA what is so funny about the equality angle? Can you enlighten us as to why it shouldn't be? the council often spouts [ it did when we were under the last Mayor, red trousers,] we are a multi cultural city with a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds … including white black mixed races and black. Where is the equality in exclusively supporting just one colour. Should they be born here they are British irrespective of colour, RACE OR CREED, should they migrate here then they should live by our rules. You don't see descendants of the races that over history .. our past … that have enslaved us saying RLM …. NLM …. we get on with our lives and embrace the past.
BLM felt it was their right to ignore covid - 19 guidelines. Clearly BLM considered themselves to be morally superior. That is not promoting equality.
Why? Is this a Robin Hood society now? The problem with this country is, we reward the lazy and can't be assed masses through social benefits, yet penalise the hard-working and successful with excessive taxes.
We can't embrace the past as certain people insist on telling us we should be ashamed of it, especially if you come from Bristol or are associated with it. So we'll be expected to serve up a grovelling apology to the do gooders/right thinkers for the past 'sins' of our forefathers ? I don't think so !
Yes I am. BLM demonstrations ignored public health England's guidelines. Obviously they consider their right to demonstrate was of more importance than public health. Its not only arrogance, it is stupidity.
....and after the grovell, the bending of the knee, we will have to pay up huge quantities of funding to recompense them for the damage done to their forbearers and filter out the guilt of our evil. The big world keeps moving, you can never change history.
I bet a lot of them are suffering now AND any unfortunates that came into contact with them in my street we have a black vicar and family a Indian family been here longer than me and a chinese family [ actually just left to go back to China for / to their family ] all good neighbours all good to talk to and one is very apologetic about BLM …. SAYS NOTHING TO DO WITH COUNTRY its an American thing ….
Was the NHS rally in London a month or 2 ago ok? https://metro.co.uk/2020/07/30/clap...orkers-march-london-demand-pay-rise-13057119/
after cancelling out all the rogue "vendors" over a hundred of them … from all over the world ...what does Verizon need my info for … when my computer crashed last time stored on it was over 6000 little jpg's thumbnail type on the rescue drive of all the companies that want your info …. some were on there 6 or more times … but to answer your question at the start of the parliament Boris stated a revision of nurses salaries was in order. i have family granddaughter ex wife and daughter & 2 in laws working in the NHS … AND HERE IS THE CATCH … there is a shortage of nurses and NHS staff . ...… agreed, but why? well most hospitals have to rely on agency staff... who get paid more than employed staff! my ex wife had to work 3 days over Christmas she did get a premium [ overtime? ] 2 agency staff were employed for the same period [ they actually worked on the ward usually for 4 shifts a week as agency] they got paid triple time and did extra hours .. then took the new year off as it was only 2 premium shifts and Christmas had seen them work for 3 weeks money almost. Son in law WAS a porter for the NHS earned £1.70 an hour less than AGENCY who at Christmas new year [ agency porter ] earned almost 4 times more than he did... he became an agency porter in the same hospital same job … earning more than the head porter he used to work with! this is one reason NHS cant keep up? put up nhs salaries agencies do the same!
But that’s not what I asked. People are condemning BLM rallies but not mentioning the NHS one. But thank you Captain Obvious in telling us what I hope everyone here knows that NHS workers get less than agency’s.
I would like to correct a mistake in the post that you are quoting, when I said 6 figures, I should have and meant to say 7 figures. Also if you read other posts after the one you quoted, I have actually said exactly what you are saying in the highlighted sentence and even said pretty much said the same as your very last sentence, referencing the middle classes, people who always end up picking up the bill.
Well there's a surprise, marvellous Marvin keep up his tradition of excluding Bristolians from matters about Bristol. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/...vZCysWpRYf_mUGMSDtViycqtR4WiaU2JYgtNgz8Vj4m-c
