Well I’m not holding out much hope for this one. Spurs are desperate for any silverware and would love to get one over on us any day of the week.
I can’t see how our defence will handle their pace in attack but maybe we’ll be able to hold them off.
    My team is as follows

    Willy
    James Silva Tomori Dave
    Mount Kovacic Kante
    Odoi Abraham Werner

For me, it’s very much just adding names to places at the moment. Frank won’t change the formation anytime soon. Is this a team that can win? Yes. Will it? I don’t think so. mot pains me to say we don’t really look like beating a very average spurs side.

Not too confident either SCBB. As regards the team i think he will stick Mendy in goals tonight. Would keep starting Havertz until he gets up to speed with the Prem...instead of Odoi and bring on Odoi second half if things not going well.

    I’d play

    Mendy
    Azpi - Tomori - Silva - Chilwell
    Kante - Barkley - Havertz
    Odoi - Werner - Mount

Need to start playing players in their positions and I can’t wait to see a left footed left back with an awareness of how to defend. Barkley seems to be our only midfielder who can play on the half turn and is happy to use both feet. Gives it away a bit but he does at least try and break the lines with his passing otherwise we’re too predictable.

Chilwell gave a passable impression of Alonso, no attacking runs, too much stopping and passing backwards. The left back we should have bought, Regullion, by contrast showed exactly what Chilwell should be doing. Just like last season we were all piss and wind, no decent delivery from the midfield to the front men, no sign of the back 4 intending to ever pass the half way line, no one able to split the opposition apart. So many passes went astray, so much sideways passing, so little intelligence off the ball. We were a snail paced mess, all the ball and no clue how to use it. Werner made a difficult shot look ridiculously easy, but he spent all game chasing non existent passes from our midfield. CHO looked the best chance, actually breaking into a trot TOWARDS the goals, while others walked backwards looking for ball that never came. Kovacic tries and Mount never stops. Jorginho is beyond useless. I'm going to call him "Better Brakes" he disrupts all and any attacking play and would rather stand rooted to the spot and backpass than try to find a forward with a decent ball.
Defence looked pretty good and did their best, against a reasonably tame Spurs, but until Frank instills some vision ,urgency, speed and adventure into his teams, there will be more games just like this one. I do understand that too many players are still not gelling, but it's the attitude that concerns me. Bit more bravery in attack wouldn't go astray.

Werner has a weak point.....Passing. A little like Mo Salah a few years back.

I thought Chilwell was okay, had he been on for the 90 we wouldn’t have conceded as he’d have been properly positioned at the back post, where Emerson should’ve been. Reguillon was at fault for their goal, he went sliding into the stands! Did improve after that mind.

But yeah, we do still seem very slow. I agree on Jorginho, I feel like he could play football for 90 minutes with no aim of scoring a goal, happy if he’s got the ball though.

Still think we’ll improve with a winger on either side, can’t wait for Pulisic to get fit.

No, first half we controlled the game but never took advantage of it. Team looks better as it gets fitter, more to come.

Agree, Chilwell was OK 1st half particularly in defence. But comparisons of him as the "next Ashley Cole" seem some way off. That was Reguilon. Unfair to pick out players, apart from Jorginho who has 2 season of previous. Fitness is big part of it, and CHO looked 10 times better than recently. It's the lack of attacking instinct and snails pace that's doing my head in. Agree with Ginger, pace on the wings and fitness will see a big improvement, and I think both Christensen and Zouma look far more settled than last year. Indeed, better things to come. Gilmour might turn out to be our most important absentee, his mid field play is exactly what's missing. One Comp less is no bad thing for us considering state of injuries and fitness levels.
