  1. Can't believe some people were claiming he had a quiet game or that he wasn't that great.

He set up two great chances and should have had two assists today.

Some people still have that picture of a slow, **** footed Championship player in their heads.

If you look at him, since he started playing for us during the middle of last season, up to now, he looks like a totally different player.

His footwork, balance, skill and overall play is very good. He works hard, he's a team player and not selfish at all. Sure he sometimes misses chances he should put away, his finishing was poor against Blackburn, but overall, i personally think we have a great player in our team.

I love those cheeky little faints and step overs he does.

In my opinion, there isn't much to separate Ba and Best really. Ba has superior pace, and looks more clinical, but in terms of overall play, Best and Ba are quite equal IMO. Best is an all round great player <ok>

    Anyone else agree?

He's the Best, the Best!! Nothin's ever gonna keep him down! <party>

Agreed. Although I still think a striker in Jan will be needed because of the Arfican Nations Cup' with Ba/Ameobi missing. <ok>

I rate Best.. rated him since that hat-trick against West Ham. His overall game is improving per game also.. looks much sharper, experienced, quicker and stronger than last season. Hopefully he keeps it up! <ok>

He did have a really good game today without really looking like scoring. His build up play and general effort tracking back was good!

He had a few chances last weekend that he should have done better with in my opinion, but yeah, he probably is under rated.

He seems to be working well with demba too which is good to see because we haven't had a solid front two for a while! Even though i dont tend to like two big men up front!

  6. It's not anything to do with size that i hate, but sometimes i commit a knee jerk reaction like a lot of people thinking two big men = no pace or quick build up.

Ba has pace and agility. Best isn't fast pace wise, but he's got good agility and skill to beat players, and his pace is pretty good.

i agree with everything for our first goal he was standing next to the goal keeper which distracts him also he set up ba for what could have been my second goal.

im hold firm on the belief that a striker is in the team for 1 thing... to get goals, i dont care what a player offers away from the front line, he can play like ****e for a season and bag 30 goals, id rather that then play awesome and finish with 8 goals. not righting best off but i would like to see him putting more of his chances away.

^^ Agreed with all this, If he learns to finish off the easier chances he'd be class.

Its also good now because best likes to hit the corner sometimes and in the past we'd have no-one in the box which was really frustrating. Now though we should always have one of the two of them in there.

Going back to that point though, whats everyones opinion on strikers going out wide? Im all for Leon moving and making himself available, but we've got the quality in midfield now for a slower build up and have the wingers to delivering balls into the box. Having best and ba both constantly challenging in the air would be a nightmare for any defense!

Best just seems to be a bit too willing sometimes (i know that sounds weird) to move out wide. Just a personal opinion i suppose but id rather keep him in the box or more central anyway. Its more of a number 10s job to go out wide and neither best or ba fit that bill.

Not trying to bitch, just wondering what people think!

  12. I think you're being ridiculous saying you don't care what a striker offers apart from his goals scoring abilities. If a striker doesn't score in a game, he can still provide for the team and do his job.

I agree i wouldn't care if a striker played ****e and scored 30 goals, but at the end of the day we're not going to get one of them, unless Shola decides to become more consistent in front of goal.

Best had to step up after our ex-local number 9 left us, and has done fantastically. He could put more of his chances away, but he's still scoring at a impressive rate.

I personally do care what a striker has to offer other that goals, because it means he can still create goals or play a part even if he doesn't score.

  15. Hmmmm, long term i think Hernandez would be better, but atm i wouldn't get rid of Best for most other options, as he's in great form.

Been very impressed with Bestys all round game this season, which surprised me, not as bad as some make out there's alot worse strikers in the PL than him.

Best puts a good shift in and is underestimated by a lot of people, including our own fans.

He's still got improvement in him and I think we can look forward to more goals from him in future.

whats so ridiculous about expecting your striker to score goals?... and enough of this goals to games ratio bollocks, 1/3 of his league goals for us came in 1 match. he doesn't have an impressive rate and the goals he has scored have been average. its not like he tears the defense apart. im just being realistic, hes not under rated, if he was all hes cracked up to be he could have finished at least 1 chance against blackburn and that would have still being a disappointing return for the match.. if we are to progress as a team we need better players than best. hopefully in January we can get a goal scoring striker
