3 points in the bag all that matters we've played well in the past and lost those type of games

I agree about the strikers and made the point before the season started.

-Graham may come good but is unfit.
-Wyke is never going to be prolific.
-Grigg isn't suited to parkys football.

    The positives are,

    - we are in the top 6.
    - conceded 1 goal in 3 games (a pen)
    - unbeaten.
    - beaten both rival promotion chasing clubs.

I'll take those positives, and I think it's unfair on Parkinson not to.

    I agree and disagree.

From the points aspect you're right but there's lots to consider and discuss.

He did and he's done pretty well since his howler against Bristol Rovers. I'd forgotten about them hitting the bar, I suppose it evens out over a season.

I've said it a few times but if Bailey Wright stays fit we finish top 2, I think Flanagan's consistency is due to having BW right next to him.

Does it actually matter how many times they hit the bar you get bugger all for that it's scoring like we did that counts, nowt else.

He'll get games, as will all the others in the squad. There's a minimum of I would say 50 games with the EFL trophy. With games coming up thick and fast all the squad is needed. Parky has a tricky job on trying to keep every one match sharp and his rotation will be crucial.

I agree about Wright, said when we signed him it was a crucial bit of business.

It was a pleasure to watch how we defended today, I thought beforehand it we be a great indication of how good are back 3/5 are and they passed with full marks.

They have some dangerous players but we done an excellent job of containing them.

Completely unexpected to see Grant playing like he has today and last week, absolutely quality. I can see us going from strength to strength now but another tough one next week.

And I would prefer a striker to shoot from inside the box ( as well as outside too).

the biggest difference imho is that diamond usually has a good final ball...i liked duncan but he had a nasty habit of running with his head down, getting into good positions then doing feck all with the ball, diamond's crosses were deadly, in with pace and often very accurate and one thing glaringly obvious in these early games is a lack of decent service into the box, our strikers have no belief that making that extra effort to get into the box is worth it.

a few mentioning 'how well' we defended today...i am not going to have a pop at our defence over one game and a clean sheet but we have honestly looked more solid before today...that dembele lad took the piss for the first 15 minutes, great movement and pace and burge stopped some shots (still does not fill me with confidence as he still seemed to be flapping at them) but overall struggled to command his area again and on another day we could easily have been 3 down before we even managed a decent attack.

we somehow kept them out but that was, as i said earlier, hopefully our 'play ****e and win game', we may need a few of them if we are to go up.

Drove to Sunderland again to watch the game with family - I am their support bubble.

    Few thoughts -

Burge - not convinced by him at all - 2 saves in the 1st half he put the ball back into danger, the free kick was a good strike but in the middle of the goal got to be getting something on that - he seems to be a flashy keeper making saves more difficult than they should be - rather than a steady/safe one.

Back three struggled for first 20 minutes with Clarke Harris holding the ball and allowing others to run off him at pace then they settled down and had solid games.

Hume - final ball was much better than last week - my worry is that if teams nullify him most of our attacking threat will be gone.
O'Nien - good defensively - needs to become more consistent with his final ball/option taking in the final third.

Wyke - simply woeful - my criticism of the the 2 wing backs and their delivery is down to his lack of desire to make a ball his in the area. He should have been off at half time yesterday and in my opinion should not even be on the bench going forward. Graham and O' Brien at least look like they could do something.

Gooch/Maguire - have to start every game for me - neither had good games yesterday.

Scowen/Leadbitter - very light weight and struggled to give any control in the middle of the park. Gave away the ball a lot very cheaply. Power/Dobson would start over these in the current set up for me.

Without an effective centre forward - I can see this being a nearly season again as without this focal point we will be easy to contain.

We’ve defended well. Win 2 games against promotion rivals when most would’ve been happy with a draw and a win. If we’d won the first, avoiding defeat would’ve likely been accepted in the other 2.

playing like that and winning shows character for me. I’ve many times watched us play some stunning football and come out as losers. I’d rather the way it’s been happens!!
ahree mostly. Burge, I thought, made saves a keeper should make. The free kick in the first half he made a meal of and it looked easy enough to catch for me. The Scowen thing. He was booked for next to nothing early in the game. There were worse fouls in the game which weren’t even given as a free kick. I wonder if that impacted his effectiveness

Leadbitter and Dobson might be the way to go, gives you the right mix of physicality and footballing ability and Grant played well I thought.

Regardless of the win yesterday, that was an absolutely dreadful performance. We are slow, no creativity and just terrible at doing the basics. Couldn’t wait to give his love child Wyke a game who offers absolutely nothing. We will not get promoted under this dinosaur of a manager, bookmark this.

Agreed. Apart from the defence there's not a lot to be impressed by. We won't keep clean sheets every game and therein lies the problem. Like Bristol Rovers who I think have lost every game since they played us. We go a goal down early doors and we'll struggle against any team.
