That was actually 1988, sat up in the home end as I needed to get the train at 6 and thought we might of got kept in, best decision I've ever made as I watched the carnage from above.

Play off final against Cardiff, coach broke down on the way there, replacement driver was the most miserable man I have ever met, my 12 year old daughter got threatened that her throat was going to be slit by a grown man, my 6 year old son cried for 10 minutes when they scored and we got crucified by a bunch of inbred Chavs when the coach got stuck in traffic on the way back home. Still look how times have changed!!!!

I've only ever been to one away match, against Arsenal at Highbury back in October 1976. We lost 3 - 2, Phil Parkes got injured and David Webb ended up in goal. Having read your experiences I'm pretty glad I've not been to any more!

Donny away in the cup. ****ing freezing cold, nearly died on the M1 after a bit of inpromptu ice skating at 80mph. Stopped for a beer and nearly got the **** kicked out of us by the locals, missed the first half and we lost 1-0!

Liverpool away, October 1987, the day after the hurricane. Dodged all the fallen trees. Nearly crashed on the M1. Before the game, we were top of the league.

Got hammered 4-0 by a rampant Liverpool team. Missed our turn on the M62 and ended up in Manchester. Broke down on the M6 on the way home. Had to pay
god knows how much to get towed. Arrived home late into the night totally pissed off.

Roller! I was in the Clock End too that day. Got kicked all the way in, and out. But I remember being at Highbury when we beat West Brom in the semi in 1982. We had the home end, and after Clive Allen kneed in the winner it started the biggest piss up after a game I can remember having.....

Today wasn't anything close to some of the dreary days and nights mentioned earlier in the thread.

I was at the game today, maybe it was the sunshine and lager, but personally I actually had a fairly good time, despite the horrific performance and scoreline. Our fans were incredible throughout. If anybody had come in they would have thought that we were the home side and that it was us that were 6-0 up. Sadly the football performance didn't match the fans performance. It just shows that our squad is just not strong enough and needs some more strengthening in January. We missed Traore on the wing big time, and One Size was out of his depth in the middle.

I speak on behalf of my nine year old daughter, who I took to her first game today. I don't think she'll forget this one, ever.

For me it was 'Boro' back in '83 I think, at the old Ayresome Park. About a three mile walk from the station, and then got attacked by the boro fans.
When I eventually escaped,I was being chased when at last I found a copper with a dog.
" Help me out mate," I said.
    "They're going to kill me."
To which he replied " Ave away you soft cockney bastard, "
and let his dog have a few snaps at me. It was only good fortune that I spotted the Rangers escort and reaching the safety of that saved me.

I think we went on to lose the match 1-0. Then it was a 7 hour journey back home on the special.
