Yeah, there's that too. Bugger up the domestic season just to be an embarrassment at internationals - what's the point?
Having a look around it's funny how some who were saying last season games should be cancelled because of the health risks are upset that the very same deadly virus is stopping a game from going ahead and stopping a club from making money - which was the other reason ...... I know that rules get amended and it does seem harsh but they thought about the possibility of the virus affecting games and didn't include rescheduling and all clubs agreed to the rules before the competition started. Again, it is very harsh but these are very harsh times. We are lucky that football is back at all. The effort put in to get it back while the virus is still amongst us should be applauded. I accept others views on this are different to mine and I see their point too
Woah Sir Gareth of Southgate got us playing some wonderful football, scoring tonnes of goals (all via set pieces) defeating something glorious teams including an incredible Columbia team on penalties to get us to a wonderful semi final only losing out to that power nation of Croatia.
I actually prefer international football to domestic these days. The vast majority of players actually care for the team that they're playing for and they're playing for the pride and not the hundred grand plus a week that they're getting.
Its a very good point. The virus and the situation it has put us in has exposed the duplicity of alot of people. All so virtuous until it effects them, then suddenly its a different matter.
Health and safety of everyone is the number one concern. That hasn't changed, just some people's view on it has, as you rightly point out.
How Matic didn't get sent off is beyond me . Quite why you always get a red card if you "raise your hands" during an altercation yet a forearm smash in open play gets you at worst a yellow is beyond me .
Totally undeserved win for Utd there. Outplayed but dead lucky. They'll really have to up their game if they want to be serious challengers. I thought they looked pretty good post-lockdown last season, but they've gone backwards again.
That penalty is just.... well. No real difference between the 2 incidents...other than arm angle... both weren't what u call unnatural angles.... good game though....
