Last time out Sunderland beat Oxford and Peterborough beat Fleetwood Town. Sunderland host Peterborough at the stadium of Light in Skybet League One. George Dobson remains suspended and Max Power is doubtful after coming off injured at Oxford. Grant Leadbitter and Josh Scowen are expected to start. Lynden Gooch staked his claim for a place in the starting eleven after a brilliant individual goal at the Kassam stadium. Elliot Embleton did not feature in the U23s defeat at Burnley in midweek, he is back in training, but will not be in contention this weekend. Matthews, Xhemajli, Feeney and Diamond all started for the U23s. Morgan Feeney came off with a hamstring injury and the fear is that he could face up to 4 months off if surgery is required. Peterborough have lost Toney and Maddison from last season, but have signed decent players in Clarke-Harris & Szmodics. A lot is expected of Dembele who has just returned to the team after having Covid-19. Phil Parkinson: “The lads are full of confidence this week, a win lifts everybody and the standard in training has been excellent.” “The last I heard was that Benji (Kimpioka) was close to agreeing his contract, it’s the same contract that has been on the table for a long time, andI’m not sure whether or not that has been finalised in the last couple of days. If he comes back he will have to get fit and see if he can get back in the team.” “The players that we have brought in have improved on the ones that have left, Our intention in the summer was that every player who left could be replaced with an improvement of 5%, bringing in six players could move us up the table to the top of the league which is where we want to be” “I’d like to get an extra couple of players in to make us really strong.” https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2020/september/peterborough/peterborough-presser Darren Ferguson: “Fleetwood had a lot of possession but our keeper hasn't really had much to do. We made a few changes, Siriki was excellent and we caused them problems and got our rewards with the goals late on. It was a really good win for us” “It was a very satisfying victory today. We showed a lot of character and a lot of drive to keep going. We didn't know that we were beaten and that is a good sign. It was great reward for the players for their determination.” Prutton predicts: meh Match Appointments: Referee: SCOTT OLDHAM Assistant Referees: Stephen Wade and Robert Atkin Fourth Official: Wayne Grunnill Team Line ups Sunderland: Burge, O’Nien, Willis, Wright, Flanagan, Hume, Scowen, Leadbitter, Maguire, Gooch, Graham Subs: Matthews, Xhemajli, McLaughlin, Diamond, Wyke, Grigg, O’Brien Doubtful: Power, Embleton Suspended: Dobson Injured: McGeady, Peterborough United: Pym, Butler, Beevers, Thompson, Broom, Reed, Taylor, Szmodics, Clarke-Harris, Eisa. I’m expecting Peterborough to be challenging for promotion again this year so this will be another tough game. I’m going for a 2-1 home win. That team looks good on paper, a win is vital but it wont be easy, we have lost Feeney now for four months according to the Echo, and I have no idea what Parky is talking about, be interesting to see how he approaches this game though, with the team so buoyant.
I think that team feels likely. Scowen has to take his chance better than he did off the bench last week
Great as always RTB. I don’t know what that percentage nonsense is from Parky. A blessing in disguise that Power and Dobson are still out. Grant had a good game last week and Scowen has his chance to stake his claim. I’m hoping he puts the young ins in the squad, crying out for some flair and if Peterborough are anything like last season, they’re full of pace and flair. I’m going for a home win all the same. Hope our defence are as assured as they’ve been so far this season.
Lets see how Mr 5% lines us up. I mean, what the **** is that all about. We should get the team and aubs most of is want, even if by default
We do better against better sides. Peterborough always try and play but have lost Toney, who bullied us last couple years. I like the thought of Scowen and Gooch, Grant did a smashing job last week, I’d personally stick with Grigg over Graham in the hope he gets off the mark and carries some of that pre-season impetus he had on. 2-1 the lads.
put it down for a win that was from the heart. I dare not put down what the head is thinking, cos we have Parky picking the team and tactics owt could happen and probably will.
Will probably be a tight game, hence my 2-1 prediction, tho I fancy if we get an early grip on the game and score early, we could run away 4-0 or 5-0 winners. But I’ll still stick with 2-1. Bart

I didn't realise that Clarke-Harris had gone to Peterborough. He has run us ragged a couple of times so we'll need to stop that.
RTB thanks once again for your OP... How we will do? My doubts are 3, scoring goals, dodgy keeper, Parky ( can i look as mournful as Moyes) picking the right team. Despite my doubts... I think we might win by the odd goal. As a season ticket holder can I get the match stream for nowt?
