Good Morning. It's Friday 25th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Udinese find replacement for De Paul Udinese's resolve may be about to buckle over the proposed transfer of Argentine International midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. The North Eastern Italian outfit have raided Watford, aiming to bring Roberto Pererya back to the Stadio Friuli. The 29yo attacking midfielder made 98 appearances between 2011-2014 for Le Zebrette (The Little Zebras). Both Udinese and Watford are owned by the Pozzo family, so unless Giampaolo and son Gino are on completely different spectrums, a deal seems imminent. Obviously, this would mean that De Paul would be surplus to requirements. Leeds made a €30m bid for the Argentine International a fortnight ago, but the offer was knocked back. Messrs Orta and co were told there would be no negotiation on their €35million expectation. Now that they have found a replacement for the 26yo, can a deal be resurrected? please log in to view this image De Paul, Ryan Kent or Ross Barkley Which one of the three will Leeds buy? Will Leeds activate Ryan Kents buy out clause with a 20m offer or wait and see whether the Pozzo family change their mind over the €30m bid the Whites made a fortnight ago for the Argentine International De Paul. Leeds tried to sign Kent this time last season but were unsuccessful, and the 23yo signed for the blue side of Glasgow for 7.5m. Has Kent improved three fold in twelve months? Is he worth that money? What about De Paul. Its fair to say that there are very few other contenders for the 26yo. If Leeds were to be given the green light with their €30million / 27.3m bid, is that better business than Kent? Chelsea have said that Ross Barkley is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge! You may recall back in the 12/13 season, Barkley spent the second half of the season at Elland Road. The 26yo has rarely lived up to his World class potential, but if anyone could unlock that talent, it would be Bielsa. The Blues have set the bar at 30m. The Sky Sports journalist was quoted as saying:- “While Manchester United are struggling to offload players, there does appear to be a concrete interest from Leeds in the winger Daniel James," “Would United consider letting James go out on loan? Ordinarily, yes. The problem is that he is currently the first-choice back-up to Mason Greenwood on the right side. “So that brings us back to Jadon Sancho, and you wonder if James will be allowed to go out on loan without Sancho or an alternative was brought into the squad. It would appear that he wouldn’t unless they brought in Sancho or a replacement. United fans are getting anxious with 12 days left to get business done.” please log in to view this image
Morning all. You're up early Elland. It might be my eyes but this post has gone a bit Noman Collier in places.
Morning all, I would love to see what Bielsa could do with Barkleys obvious talent. Could be just the player we need to do the Pablo role between midfield and attack. Obvious concerns about his attitude though.
Morning all. Its good that we are signing players that, hopefully, are going to improve the team, but I am haunted by the thought that someone at the club valued a pudding like Augustin at £18million quid.
Morning all... A couple of years ago, it was just a dream that we’d be signing players in the £18m and £27m price bracket. I believe they will come good but a bit of a concern that the rest of the team are looking far better than the new boys at the moment.
Morning all, De Paul has openly stated he wants to come to Leeds, and has already agreed terms, so he'd definitely be my choice of the three. Kent has already said he wants to stay at Rangers, and if Barkley isn't good enough for Chelsea, he's definitely not good enough for Leeds (plus I don't think he'd handle the training regime) Hopefully though we'll get whoever is Bielsa's first choice.
the regular boys are now in their 3rd season under Bielsa and know where the coffee is, the new boys haven't even found the bog yet mate. All 3 players are top players and Internationals. Llorente is was first brought into the Spanish set up under Del Bosque but Louis Enrique picks him as well and Spain is a top top country. Rodrigo is first choice striker for Spain so is Their Harry Kane. He is learning a new system as Valencia dont play high press or possession football. Give him a break and Robin Koch is very much like Ben White but with more experience at top level football. All away from home and all in a new league as well. Give them a break for an hour or too mate. Said it before but any player who says no to Leeds can stay away and although I like Barkley I think he has an attitude and big head problem. I May be doing the lad down and if we do go for him I will obviously be wrong as Bielsa will know. I think we deffo need a new creative player in the middle and De Paul was my ideal, but Malinovskyi is a top player too so hope we move and get it sorted.
Has kent really said no?... ultimately any player that says he wants to leave a club (without a deal set in stone) is an idiot. If true, I do agree that i don't want a player that's happier in scotland - it says something about their ambition. I'd be surprised if we hadn't checked out his willingness to come prior to making a bid. We need to remember that we were reportedly close to signing kent last summer, but at the last minute went for nketiah on loan - ie we spnked the cash on a striker instead of a provider. What, if any, bearing that has on matters is hard to say.
Another potential target gone elsewhere with Florentino joining Monaco on loan from Benfica. So the target pool is getting smaller. I wonder if our plan is to wait some clubs out because it seems Benrhama and Buendia are going to still be in the Championship due to their clubs wanting way too much money. Ryan Kent told every paper in Scotland that he wasn't interested in a move to Leeds he was pressed on it for a tv slot and explained he wants to stay at Rangers and wasnt interested in sitting on the bench at Leeds. His problem has always been he thinks hes better than he is. He likes being a big wheel in a small SPL
I don't know what you want Kent to say? He's going to say he is happy at Rangers. He's going to say he doesn't want to leave. He's going to say that he doesn't want to be a sub. How does he know he is going to be a bench warmer at Leeds? Because his agent has been in contact with the club. Why has his agent been in contact? Because Ryan probably gave him the green light to talk to them. Imagine the **** he would get if he said "get me out of this tin pot league and get me to a proper club. These porridge guzzlers are ****e. I want to leave and play for Bielsa at Leeds.!" He wouldn't make it out of the press room (even on zoom). Whatever happens happens. They'll only come if they want to.
Erick Pulger the Chilean International for Fiorentina has been linked with Leeds for over a week now and hasn't joined the playing squad for their Seria A game this weekend? All very quiet for a change so obviously something is happening but not bound to be with Pulger and now only 8 days left to get it sorted.
Very disappointed in this opener, Ell. Your scum slip is showing. Bad enough inserting a photie of a player in a scum strip, but to refer to scum as 'United' - more than once! - is unforgivable. Please edit out your serious errors of judgement .....
Good Morning to Matt and Doc and co from a cool Bardsey I am sure Orta will know whether or not we can have DePaul so fingers crossed Kent should remain in his little pond Barky should remain in London Thanks for the updates Doc
Don't want Barclay, but I must confess I can't articulate why. Call it a hunch. Could be a very expensive mistake. I wouldn't offer Rangers any more. £10m is quite enough. If we really want him, we should make the agent do his job & wave pound notes in front of him. Pretty sure we could sign him by offering more wages, rather than a higher fee. De Paul I don't know much about - but I haven't heard a bad word about him, plus he appears to be wanting to join us. Two very important factors, imo. If we really need him, pay what they want. It's not worth buying second best for what amounts to pennies in the PL. I'm all for negotiation & brinkmanship - but only if it works & is timely. Time is up. Get him signed & Bielsified asap.
I read a couple of weeks ago that we would double his £25k pw wages but that may have been Phil Hay making **** up again.
We don’t want Kent, Barkley or James end of. Very pleased with the signings to press they are quality, I don’t know .....that Radz has no ambition, won’t get his hand in his pocket!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE ALL THE CRITICS NOW....... hiding and eating humble pie, to stand up and apologise is a manly thing to do gentlemen!!
