    Wycombe Wanderers v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Adams Park
    Date - 26 September 2020
    Kick off - 12.30

Following their disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Birmingham, next up for Steve Cooper’s goal shy Swansea squad is a trip to play Wycombe Wanderers.

Last Saturday, the Swans were held to a goalless draw at home by Birmingham City.

Chances were scarce in a first half which was only enlivened by a touchline melee involving both sets of players and coaches which has led to Alan Tate being charged by the FA.

Morgan Gibbs-White wasted the hosts' best opportunity as he shot straight at Blues debutant Neil Etheridge.

Birmingham captain Harlee Dean then had a header saved by Freddie Woodman but neither side could produce that elusive moment of quality to win the game.

The result was a fair reflection of a tight contest but it may have been a little frustrating for both sides after winning their respective first matches of the season, Swansea winning away against Preston and Birmingham winning at home to last season's beaten play-off finalists Brentford.

Whilst the Swans were drawing, Adam Armstrong's hat-trick and a first senior goal for Tyrhys Dolan helped Blackburn sweep past Wycombe for their first Championship win of the new season.

Armstrong scored twice either side of 18-year-old Dolan's goal as Rovers went 3-0 up inside 33 minutes at Ewood Park.

Darius Charles was sent off for Wycombe 12 minutes after half-time when Armstrong was sent through on goal, before Derrick Williams added a fourth.

Armstrong completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time to finish the rout.

Including the first meeting on 1 March 1994, the Swans have played Wycombe on 14 occasions, winning 6, losing 6 with 2 drawn matches.

Turning to Saturday, the Swans could well face former player Adebayo Akinfenwa and I suspect that if he plays he will score.... Last Saturday was a rude reminder for Wycombe of the step up in standard they face after winning promotion to the second tier via the League One play-offs last season. However, I have a feeling that, in front of the live Sky cameras, they will rise to the occasion and sneak a 1-0 home win. Hope I’m wrong <cheers>

    Thanks Taff

I share your view that Akinfenwa, if he plays, will probably score - it always seems to happen!
We have to win these games if we are going to get anywhere. So despite the lack of a cutting edge it’s 2-1 to the Swans for me with goals coming from GibbsWhite and a powerful Cabango header from a corner.

Swansea City’s home Championship clash with Stoke City has been chosen for live television coverage by Sky Sports.

However, the Liberty Stadium clash will remain on its original date of Tuesday, October 27, and retain its scheduled kick-off time of 7.45pm.

Hoping for a win but probably a draw after the bluntness of our attacking prowess last time out. Who knows? Eh? 5582 possibly... anyway, I'm away in North Yorkshire for a few days so enjoy yourselves gang and keep the faith <cheers>

I’m in positive mood, Swans win that will give me full marks on point in the prediction league. Clean sheet for me, 3-0 Swans.

    Thanks Taff.
As we are on an unbeaten run and not conceding goals I think we can win this game as long we score a goal or two.....herein lies the problem though....we are not set up to score many goals mainly it seems because our midfield slows the game down...change the speed and the opposition defence will not cope. 2 nil Swans

Alex Samuel likely to score, as he is an ex-Swan. I think Akinfenwa is out.

so we have to score 2 at least to have a chance of winning.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth makes five changes to the side that lost 5-0 to Blackburn last weekend, with Ryan Tafazolli, Nick Freeman, Dennis Adeniran, Alex Samuel and Jason McCarthy all coming into the side.

Steve Cooper, meanwhile, sticks with the same 11 players that started in the stalemate with Birmingham last time out.
