He's to balance out Mayer's lack of inches (make of that what you will).

Adelekun plays out wide, but yeah it’s up to those two to force the issue.

I think it would be harsh to drop Eaves from the picture when he’s not even played a game yet this season, especially given his goal scoring record at this level.

I don’t necessarily think it’s the end. It seems strange that we signed either of them given neither of them look the slightest bit effective in the formation he refuses to move from. I’m sure in a 4-4-2 they would both thrive.

Wilks on the other hand has that pace, he can be direct and tricky and he also carries that physicality.

I know he turned us down, but I think he was holding out for a Championship club.

From the looks of it the right hand side will either be Mayer or Adelakun (assuming we sign him).

I’d rather we focused on an experienced midfielder now. When Smallwood misses games, we have no one else in midfield with his experience. If the links with this Leeds youth team player are correct- he’s not the answer to the lack of experience. I’d rather give our own youth players a go.

Kevin McDonald, Andy King and Beram Kayal are all available on a free. Any of those would do a good job.

Andy King is not the sort of midfield general who would get stuck in, very average at Huddersfield last season, yes we need experience but someone who's also a ball winner for me

I always find that Threadgolds Thoroughgrip Garterettes help keep my socks in place during transfer windows.

We saw last season how we literally can’t win anything with kids. The defence is still very young, I’d have liked another experienced head there but Ingram and Long are quite shouty so could cover that.

Experienced DM are key at this level, we saw that with Ashbee.

GM: “We’re hoping to add to our squad today and add a bit of strength to our team.” “Medical was done yesterday but I’m not comfortable speaking about the finer details until the paperwork is signed.”

GM: “We’re working on another one too - whether it’s in-time for the weekend I’m not sure, but it’s a demanding league and we want to have enough strength in-depth within this squad.”

We are both on the same page with regards to an experienced DM. Age and experience over a young kid with a load of appearances. I think with age and experience the younger players would be more likely to take on board instructions.

I agree and have said it for a while now, Smallwood is a leader/talker on the pitch but without him who takes over. Obviously I don't know has a squad how quiet they are out on the pitch but he was brought in to do that job because it was needed. It's not just been a decent player but the fact is you need an organiser/encourager, someone who has the battle and won't let his team be out done on the pitch by a mouthy opposition. at the moment if he is injured i don't know if we have the right character to take over and if not we need one in my view.Don't know anything about the lad from Leeds but been young if he comes then he's come to improve but without that experience unless we are also after another.

I really don't get the fascination with 442, we don't have the players to play it and it messes up the midfield, which has been our biggest strength. They're 2 average players (I prefer Magennis) & I'm pretty certain if it wasn't for the salary cap, one would be out the door shortly. They'll do as backup

Agree about an experienced midfielder but getting one to sit on the bench more often than not is no easy task.

I feel a bit sorry for Eaves and McGennis to some degree, like you say Terry hasn't played a system that suits them. So far, Terry has opted for wide players who are either right-footed and play on the left or left-footed and play on the right. i.e Turbo & Bowen. Like the former 2, KLP & Wilks are also not crossers of the ball they prefer to cut inside and have a go themselves. Mayer looks as if he might be the player that will benefit Eaves and McGennis, he can deliver a good ball into the box.

So, Wilk's for the moment looks the best bet up the middle as you say.

I don't think it is a fascination with 442, more that it would suit Eaves and McGennis. Our current way of playing doesn't suit them as the wide players are not players that cross the ball into the box. Horses for courses.

We have two centre forwards that would very much benefit from a 4-4-2. They’d definitely benefit playing in a two along with a quicker nimble centre forward.

In a 4-3-3 they are often isolated.
