I work in the financial world and people I work with invest for returns over the medium to long term. They are not concerned about their investment returns in 12, 24 or 36 months time. They view things over a much longer time horizon.

The short term events do not have a bearing on their decision to invest. They will take as many precautions as they can to protect themselves but again it doesn’t stop them from progressing with their long term goals and objectives.

What a cracking day of takeover thread, really enjoyed catching upon that. Smug started it brightly dropping in Don into loan money to cover running costs which was followed briliantly with GG putting flesh on the bones of last years takeover non-takeover events. An absoloute fantastic and totally shameless about turning from NQD from "nothing is happening" to "it's happening". And Magnus provided the perfect amount icing on the 2020 takeover cake on the cake with a few more finacial details. All read with a lovely cup of brew, champion.

Bit diversionary but due to cliamate change there is a huge de-investment going on in areas now seen as high risk in parts of the US of A from insurance and building companies. That investment has to go somewhere else and seeing as Platek just bought a club and SSN have reported interest/investment? from the USA into Burnley, I wouldn't be too surprised to see a few dollars more coming into footy as investment money finds a new home. From here.

Great post that no one could argue with!

My ex-employer Sheikh is currently buying up endless London flats because the UK is seen as more stable than the Middle East ...

... his latest is 3.5m in Wandsworth.

Good team to invest in. Established premier league side with low wage bill in relative terms. Makes sense. Southampton would be another wise move for someone/group.

woah woah woah. To be clear I absolutely desperately want this takeover to happen. It’s why I’m refreshing this page every 20 seconds :D

I was merely questioning the timing due to the fact it seemed locked in they’d get us eventually so why rush - but my queries have been allayed by the responses. That’s what a discussion forum is for after all.

Certainly not hoping it doesn’t go through and certainly not trying to bring anybody down!!

Seriously cheered me up reading that, was one reveal after another. It was a very welcome little information floodgate opening up. The fact a takeover didn't happen last year puzzled the **** out of me just because it was getting reported matter of factly in the press as basically having happened. Good to know this was actually the case and it was only because of Don the Negotiation Guru being somewhat greedy at the last minute that ****ed it up. Thankfully, he hasn't got that option open to him this time and hopefully he'll get out before Fuhrman's vice of loan pain squeezes his balls down to peanuts. But if it takes peanuts so be it. Actually, don't really care if his balls are squeezed out of existence completely before he lets go tbh as we get the same result. Him gone and new owners.

This, or maybe Sartori said he'd underwrite it (verbally to Donald, not actually in the contract to FPP) but having seen the way Donald has gone on, along with the potential fallouts between the three non-wise men, decided not to. That would maybe leave Donald in the lurch and unable to pay it off. Could he have been shafted by one of his mates?
The above could be bollix mind if Sartori is as liable as Donald with being part of Madrox!

But if you look at it this way, you buy it now at an agreed price, put the people needed in place to keep it ticking over properly and when the all clear comes then everything is in place and you're ready rather than playing catch up with other clubs who already have the people in place

Here’s a random takeover for you.

Ryan Reynolds is buying Wrexham. Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds.

He sold his Aviation Gin company for £650million or so, meaning we are now poorer than Wrexham.

That’s class that like, I’d be buzzing if I was a Wrexham fan now.

Brilliant mate. He’s a proper character that fella and he’s smart as a tack in business.

Net worth around £800million once the sale of Aviation completes. I love the randomness if it and am fascinated to see how that pans out.

Press coverage will be wild, would actually have loved summat like that here (with proper football folk doing the business)

You know what it is mate. I’ve been going to watch the lads since I was 6. I’m 40 now and I’m ****ing sick of this club being an also ran. If the fans REALLY believe the club are as big as they think we should get behind them and be positive.
Also the club has been suffering from a massive identity crisis for as long as I’ve been alive. We’ve just never seemed to be a particularly well run outfit. It pisses me off seeing the likes of Burnley and Brighton and Bournemouth(until recently) in the premier league and doing well.
Surely if they can do it why can’t we get back there and do well?

Myself and a few can go back to the 50s
I can’t remember the Bank of England team
However we have had some ups and downs over the years which I have thoroughly enjoyed
Nevertheless I know exactly were you are coming from
And we do need a big change in fortunes

I started, as an exile, in 1971.

Since then I've seen incredible support and massive numbers, home & away, for 5 decades.

Our support is top class whatever some people try to claim ...
