A good first half, a poor second half. Think that sums it up. We held a well deserved 2-0 lead at the break, maybe could have had a third with Jonas missing a great chance. However, we were lucky not to gives Wolves a penalty as the challenge from Taylor was inside the box from where I was standing. So a 2-0 halftime lead was more than acceptable.

The second half was a different story. We seemed content to sit and protect the lead we had and never really looked like adding to it. The more the second half went on, the more we let Wolves come at us and we let far too many balls get into the box and had difficulty keeping the ball. Wolves had much the better of the second half. If it weren't for Krul we wouldn't have won today.

But the main thing is that we held on for a difficult and hard fought three points. Last season I think we'd have dropped points there, so to come away with all three is a good result - even if the performance wasn't great overall. Nobody here will be unhappy with four wins and three draws in our first seven games.

So the players. Tim Krul was outstanding. We all know he's a great shot stopper and he showed that again today. But what impressed me most was his command of the box when coming for crosses. A vast improvement and shows he's still getting better. His best performance all round for us. Man of the match, easily.

As for the rest of the team there were no outstanding displays. Simpson didn't get forward at all in the 2nd half but made good in-roads down the right in the first half. Backed off too many times. Taylor and Colo looked good and Taylor got in a great block in the second half (but was lucky with the pen in the first half). Raylor was pretty quiet on the left, most of the second half Jonas was more at LB than him.

Cabaye and Tiote played alright. Nothing spectacular, but Tiote probably edged it for me. Obertan was very quiet and couldn't deliver. Jonas could have scored two, decent enough and lots of running. Best was quiet again, thought Ben Arfa may replace him in the second half. Ba took his goal well and looks better every week.

So, it was the hard fought win that many had predicted and three more points in the bag. Credit to Wolves for their second half display, but we should really have looked to close the game out.

Overall, I'd give us 7.5/10 in the first half and 5/10 in the second half.

    Long live Timmy Krul.

Yours is the first post I've read today (been to work), but I'll be watching on Sky tonight. People I've spoken to have agreed with you about the penalty, and Tim Krull. Hard fought seems to sum it up properly.

from what i saw (live stream) it was definitely a game of 2 halves sitting back inviting teams on is a suicidal tactic.
    agree with everything you said
