Until today, I was sat on the fence, hot too sure if I wanted Bruce n or out, but leaning slightly towards the 'in' camp. After today's performance, I am very sorry to say that we need to get a new manager. Bruce has served this club very well over the past couple of seasons, with the highlight no doubt being the 3-0 thrashing we gave to Chelsea last season. He has bought many players, and done well with not spending too much, but I think that to move forward as a club, we need to send Brucie on his way. It was great while it lasted, but imo this club needs a new coach to move onwards and upwards in the premier league. Goodbye, Stephen Roger Bruce.
In my opinion I think he has till Villa in 2 games time. We cant be expected to get something at Arsenal so cant see it happening after that game unless its a 7-0 or something ridiculous. I do recall reid was sacked after a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal so maybe there is something about that place that makes owners press the trigger. Lose to Villa on the 22nd and he is in deep deep ****.
No, I think he was the right man for the right time. There are very few other managers that would have had a net spend of 6 mil yet still have a pretty decent team. Bruce's order was to get us up into a mid-table club without fears of relegation, and I think he's done that.
I have always been BOB, even NOB (thanks RAW). But.............. Will another manager save us? Thats what I demand now - SAFETY! Pathetic, isn't it? x
While you point out good games such as the 0-3 at Chelsea, you neglect how such good results have consistenly been offset. Its funny how there seems to be a similar article posted after our matches these days, only I'm not laughing.
we have not had a season without the fear of relegation with bruce in charge. just look at last season we spent the first half of the season in the top 6 and after xmas and another 3 month run of shocking results we were looking over our shoulders hoping that the teams below us f**k up and then all the teams around us did and we luckily ended somehow in 10th.
Been putting it off, but i'm starting to have these thoughts myself....Don't want them, but his insistance with this formation is not helping.
I'm not 100% sure I agree that he's been shrewd in the transfer market, so, putting his somewhat baffling tactics to one side for a moment - the sale of Collins and Ferdinand, without sufficient back-four cover. We still don't have a replacement for Bent and then we lose Gyan. AND we still don't have a left winger ... We still play hoofball like a third division side, we make players unhappy by playing them out of position and all last season Bruce bemoaned the injury situation, then used unfit players who got injured again, even worse than before. I watched the England-Scotland rugby game yesterday and England were in trouble, but they had people who were willing to lay their body on the line. I watched 10-man Chelsea continue to tear Swansea apart last week with hard work, passion and commitment and I feel sad with the thought, that's exactly what we're lacking: where's the blood and guts? Where's the pride in the red and white shirt? How can they give so little to such fans? I've sat on the fence too for some time, partly because I really thought we would turn a corner and mainly because I know about as much about football management as I do about inter-galactic travel options and didn't feel it was my call. I'm calling it now, we have to change something and I sense the time is now to do something different.
The club up the road have a net spend in 2011 of -£35m and sit in third. Just to rub it in. If I was a Sunderland fan I wouldn't want Bruce in charge. He's poor in the transfer market and unable to motivate his players. Furthermore his obsession was Newcastle must be embarrassing, I find it hilarious, especially his **** about "playing his song", but if Pardew was acting so irrationally I wouldn't be impressed. Personally I think Sunderland will hit a run of form and Bruce will be backed, the team will finish about 12th and it'll start all over again. I can't see Bruce moving you forward.
Not being funny the season you stayed up before Bruce came in you were saved by Hull, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and West Brom being shocking. Since then Bruce made very good purchases of players like Darren Bent and you improved to 13th, then last year you finished 10th, the only thing that made it look bad was the fact that you were 6th and 7 points ahead of 7th on 22nd Jnauary. Surely this bought Bruce time till Decemeber. Though your next 4 games are going to be difficult.
bruce out thats my opinion i have given him time and i feel although he was the right man at the time he is not now
