I may have missed this question before, but why when he announces additional measures are they always a few days before implementation. For example pubs, restaurants etc. will shut at 10.00pm from Thursday, why not immediately?

I don't know, but I assume it's to allow restaurant and bar owners time to adapt the changes. I know there was a short clip the other day on the news, where a restaurant owner was having to go through their late bookings, some of the main business in popular cities are after 10pm, especially at weekends.

This is true. Herd immunity is a myth, as it’s literally never been sustainably achieved without a vaccine.

See the Black Death for details. As those who were fortunate enough to survive it and achieve immunity when it wiped out about half of our population in the mid 1300’s, had the joy of watching their offspring die of it as they had no immunity when it returned 20 years later and wiped out around another 20%.

David Moyes and two players tested positive tonight and I believe they were sent home from the London Stadium where they are playing Luton.

    This raises several questions.

    1. How can the game go ahead when the west ham players have been in contact with the manager and David Moyes?

    2. What (if anything) does it mean for Arsenal and Newcastle who they have played in the past 10 days?

Just wondering cos it's currently being played...does the other players testing negative mean there is no chance of the rest of the west ham squad are cspable of being carriers?
Just confused cos our game was called off cos orient players tested positive.

    The night time virus.

So you can pop down to meet someone, but can only stay outdoors?

Maybe they should just sack off all night shift workers in this case,

Out of everything I've heard and read throughout the past 6 month debacle, this from CMO Chris Whitty sums EVERYTHING up perfectly.

"My final point is that if I increase my risk, a lot of people say, well, can’t people just be allowed to take their own risk? The problem with a pandemic or an epidemic infection like this is if I as an individual increase my risk, I increase the risk to everyone around me and then everyone who’s a contact of theirs, and sooner or later the chain will meet people who are vulnerable or elderly or have a long term problem from Covid. So you cannot in an epidemic just take your own risk. Unfortunately, you’re taking a risk on behalf of everybody else."

He said the four things to do are reducing individual risk by washing hands and using masks, quarantine measures, and investing in vaccines and drugs.

“The third one, and in many ways the most difficult, is that we have to break unnecessary links between households because that is the way in which this virus is transmitted,” he said.

THIS is the reason why we continue to be in the mess we're in and this is the reason why we have to have further restrictions. And people still honestly believe that they are making decisions for themselves which will have no bearing on others. And that mentality above all else is why we'll continue to remain in this mess, especially considering only about 8% of the population have had the infection and there's still 92% to go.

Oh I don't doubt that Comm, and none of us want our liberties restricted or livelihoods threatened, but what I've seen is the ones who bitch most about the restrictions are the same ones who think they can do whatever the fck they like. They don't seem to be able to make the connection in their head that one is as a result of the other.

I'm in a git big bubble, relying on a shift off about 70 people to do the right thing.

Although we had the first case recently.

I was talking to someone about this today, boils my piss tbh.

The correlation between most of those who’ve made a song and dance about ‘civil liberties’ seems to be that they just don’t get what the word Society actually means and their beliefs across the spectrum are inherently self centred.

I'm in a bubble with 840, all kids <laugh> Well not quite, but basically I'm having to work with different year groups on any give day. I hope I don't jinx it but we haven't had a single case in 3 weeks. Bound to happen at some point though.
