He has another 2 years on his contract and I suspect RM will attempt to secure a transfer fee next summer. But if Bale flops, spurs will simply send him back to Spain!
I’m not sure Real are even too bothered by a fee now. We’re paying them £9m plus around 40-50% of his wages, so if we structure a similar deal for next season I think Madrid would take it. Bale seems set on playing for us and us only judging by what Barnett has said. I’d say - barring any crazy injury or unlikely poor form from Bale this season - hell definitely be playing for us next season too.
The main thing will be whether the subsidising of his wage will still be in place. At the end of the RM contract, you would hope he'd be more realistic, but you wouldn't expect him to forego £300k pw (or whatever they contribute) for a year. He might fancy more golf by then - also Zidane might be gone.
The Madrid bean counters are now dependent on Bale having a decent season at Spurs, or he returns to them vaguely regenerated and usable in the 2021-22 season. All other scenarios do not prevent the Bale wage leech nor a potential transfer fee value nose-diving by the week.
Milik Watch Calcio Mercato report that Napoli are looking at selling Arkadiusz Milik before the end of this window, but are looking at teams outside of Serie A as a potential destination - and by complete coincidence, Milik's agent is willing to meet with Spurs representatives, seemingly unaware that they're going to get one hell of a Levying now...
I thought he’d already signed for Roma? But presumably that deal fell through when Dzeko to Juve was also cancelled.
Yup, and since the deal fell through Juve have opened negotiations with Luis Suarez On the subject of Juve, not sure if it was mentioned on here, but there were reports saying that Juve were willing to offer us Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi as part of a deal to take Tanguy Ndombele to Turin - although that's obviously been put on the backburner with Ndombele getting back in favour...while also begging the question why Juve thought we'd need two left-footed right wingers
