Hi Houston! Any expansion will be very expensive, but I don't know that a rebuild on the existing site would cost as much as that of acquiring land and building a new stadium.

It's totally unfeasible to build upwards. The stadium has a great atmosphere as it is but is antiquated, cramped, uncomfortable and an albatross around our necks if we are to compete at this level...

This will always be a tough call, until it happens. We all have reasons for loving Loftus Road and its unique atmosphere. But just look at some of the new stadia out there, they are fantastic. I just hope that they manage to get a design where we are all still close to the pitch and somehow retain the look of a traditional football stadium, rather than a spaceship. However, it must happen.

I'm looking forward to the "My happiest memory of Loftus Road", "My favourite day at Loftus Road" and "The best match I ever saw at Loftus Road" threads already.

My happiest memory of Loftus Road was the summer of 1968 when the South Africa Road stand went up. The club had just won promotion to the premier league division one, if you know what I mean, and suddenly it was all scaffolding, girders and sheet metal skins. The sun shone, the skies were blue and the players where pictured pushing barrows of muck into skips - in training grays and gleamimg white towels round their necks. All part of the image you know!

The new stand signalled Rangers elevation into the big time. Everything was new including me! As I recall, it took a while after the season started for the new stand to be open for business.

Amazing feeling though, watching the modern Rs going through the pains of birth as a major club.

Still despite all the sentiment, you have to move on... We've been sensing the wind of change for some time now. We need to relocate to grow - and it needs to happen sooner rather than later to furnish our image and improve our pulling power sufficient to cultivate the necessary 30 odd k following.

    Ground share? Whatever.

the article is just because the fixture is this weekend and they want to generate interest - it is part of a feeder story to have ready to exploit for a few weeks if the result was going to be live on tv or if something interesting happens. the articlie itself says noting other than - if things get cloudy it could rain - nothing of substance. They try to create these stories to fule interest to sell the programme on tv, betting, sponsorship - etc.
Commercial news feeding a story to create a story etc

think its innevitable and a matter of when, not if. Not my preferred outcome, but money talks and Loftus Road is what we all love it for, but its not a Premiership ground capable of sustaining a premiership club into the future.

Maybe its time to think of next generation of Rs fans, who could watch QPR for the next 50+ years established in top flight football if finance is managed properly for a change
