Current virus rates are increasing. It more than tripled in Hull. It's doubling weekly nationally. We don't need to go to ****ing football matches.

Yes other matches went ahead and car boots did. That doesn't mean our game should have gone ahead, it means those things shouldn't have gone ahead.

Do you think all foreign holidays should still be banned? Far more risk on a plane with a few hundred people in close proximity?
This is about freedom of choice and it’s been taken away from us by some ****ers on a faceless committee. If you don’t and wouldn’t go I respect your choice. but I’ve been working right through Covid and had no choice to work from home etc
So don’t say I can’t go to a game when others In other areas are doing just that

There is going to have a point when fans have to be let back into stadiums, if not, like with many companies, clubs will go bust and the long term implications will be catastrophic. A balance is going to have to be found, or people being out of work because of it is going to have a bigger social impact than the virus itself.

Yes foreign holidays should be banned.

No you shouldn't be going to football games and neither should anybody else.

The longer this refusal to sacrifice holidays, football games, pubs, etc goes on, the more it spreads around and the more people die.

Sweden got it wrong then? Presume your job won't be affected if pubs shut and never open again?
Public sector worker on full pay by any chance?

It was a genuine question, I wasn't saying I didn't believe you, I was just asking if you knew what they had done.
I wasn't aware they had printed a programme or sent out invites.
Do you know if they had done anything about attendees safety or to deal with the previous concerns about people being able to suggest friends to sit with (maybe they covered that in the invites?)

So where do you draw the line then? Because the longer we keep running scared the bigger long term effect this is going to have on absolutely everyone

But foreign holidays aren’t banned. Schools are now back. Life is going on. It has to.
If you or your wife are high risk then absolutely you shouldn’t be going.

Pay now, live later or live now, pay later?
Freedom of choice is all well and good, but those making the "larger decisions" are in a difficult situation.

You can't ban everything, society would pretty quickly collapse. If more people actually acknowledged the problem and took some responsibility for behaving accordingly we'd be a lot better off. So, go on a foreign holiday and if you're required to quarantine afterwards then do it. Go to pubs/restaurants but don't give false contact details for track and trace. Wear a mask where you're supposed to. Keep your distance.

    Your points are all valid.
I suspect TreeHugger is coming from the point of view that there are more people with "Bournemouth Beach" attidudes out there than many realize. The government seems to be waffling on this issue. There are dangers opening up/relieving restraints until the numbers drop or an effective, safe vaccine has been developed. At the moment there is an alarming upward trend.
If you watched todays presentation/presser by the scientists, you'd see the dilemma the power people are under. It's been there since this plague hit us.

Ignore the bit at the end otherwise...

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat,...

Let's be honest, it's either watching the Canaries or tractor-spotting in that neck of the woods- nowt else to do there.

More to do round there than around here. Which is why they get more tourists.
