get in ! great win !

Apparently Norwich played RATHER well at Trashford.....

Also, apparently we were very good at home to Brighton.

Thoughts from Tractor boys who went !? Great win, I was very nervous about this 1 !

1 point off 6th, 3 points off 3rd and 6 points off top.... I know there is still a hell of a way to go, but after the start we had can we all start dreaming now:cheesy:

We're on the way to good things with performances like this. Hope we can keep it up. As was said by Steve Foley in the radio suffolk commentary, teams are now having to adjust their system to combat us instead of us adjusting to theirs. Are we starting to worry teams now?

Very good win for you boys today <ok>
A tad better than our result.
Keep the roll going and we could - hopefully - be having the derby next year in the prem.

No question about it - ITFC are doing well at this point in time.
BUT
It might be a good idea to keep your feet firmly on the ground.
Forest went on a 15 game run last season and thought were certainties for at least a play off play - the rest, as they say, is history.

We played Brighton off the park today and don't let anyone tell you any different. Even when went a goal down the whole crowd got behind the team because we knew that the Town would score. What a difference when you have a crowd that gets behind the boys even when a goal down and the team to their credit responded. The goals that Chopra scored were just superb finishes and Super Sonko is the new cult hero at Ipswich. All in all we fully deserved the win today against a Brighton side that showed very little and who came for the draw.

A long way to go but after this week we have sent a clear message to our rivals in this league. 10 points out of the last 12 and 7 points taken from teams in the top 6 tells its own story.

We lost to Man United, at home, only 2 - 0 and that scoreline may even flatter them. No shame there. You had a good win though can't deny it, and maybe you might be playing us in the Premier League next season!

I know we have seen already this season how quickly things can change, but it's nice to be counting how far we are from the top of the table instead of worrying about the bottom. As Lancs started the thread, lets just keep on singing the blues….

Hot weather, cold beer and a good result - happy days.

Thought we played well yesterday and were by far the better team in the first half. Chopra's volley in the first half produced an amazing save from an otherwise nervy keeper (handling was poor I thought) and we looked pretty damn good (but then perhaps Brighton helped in that department by playing so negatively) and we kept creating chances. However, it was one of those matches where we had so much possession that you knew if you didn't score the other team might snatch a goal. And so it was.

After half time we saw glimpses of what Brighton were capable of and it became more like the game I was expecting. Immediately following what should have been a free kick to Town, the Brighton goal was largely down to poor defending - Edwards / Bullard combo (get a bloody foot in!!) - but it was a class finish. After the goal I did think, just for a few minutes, that we reverted to the Town of old (or not so old perhaps) with some nervy football and panicky defending but we came through very quickly.

It was great to see Chopra score and hopefully this will result in a run of scoring for him. Sonko's unchallenged header was bullet like and the 3-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game.

Player marks out of ten

Stockdale - 5 (opted to punch - badly - when not under pressure)
Edwards - 7 (more attack minded and worked hard - yes, he got lost a couple of times too)
Sonko - 8 (only one mistake in the whole game - immense performance again)
Collins - 7 (won everything in the air protecting Cresswell)
Cresswell - 6 (less involved and not too many of those infamous crosses)
Bullard - 6 (all went through him, a few good long passes wide but nothing spectacular)
Bowyer - 6 (surprised he is still not getting stuck in and lost a few 50/50 challenges)
Andrews - 6 (steady if not spectacular)
Leadbitter - 5 (seemed to revert to the Leadbitter of a few weeks ago - quiet and not as effective)
Scotland - 7 (worked hard and still finding space)
Chopra - 8 (just for the goals)

As I read these scores back I realise that our two previous problem areas (centre backs and strikers) get the best rating. We must be doing something right.

I was there yesterday Rushmere and as usual you have summed the game up perfectly! <ok>

Why the hell didn't the referee award us a free kick for the blatant foul on Bowyer which led to their goal! Anyhoo a great game which we deserved to win and our confidence level will be on a high now especially coming from behind to win by a good margin.

Have to disagree with Leadbitter's rating. Bullard was a liability when we didn't have the ball. Constantly commiting himself or bottling tackles, that said he's not match fit and looked good with the ball at his feet. For me Leadbitter hardly put a foot wrong, put his foot in kept the ball well. played some nice passes too.
