He needed to shut up shop and try to relieve the pressure on our defense which he didn't do. Think he shouldve brought in another defender for a striker, like he did last season but yeah 3 points in the bag ...and really looking forward to the Spurs game in 2 weeks time. Think that this will show if we've made any progress compared to last season, under Pardew...

Exactly. Look at it from the other angle, if you're Mick McCarthy who do you least want to see coming off that bench? Those two subs and the late goal were probably the only things he smiled about all afternoon. Leaving HBA on the bench for 90 mins is mad.

after all the bad luck we normally have it's funny seeing people panic when we have good luck.

It's like they don't know what's going on.

Far from inept. We looked well organised and are playing good on the deck football. The subs were strange, certainly wouldn't have been my choices but we have to remember that the opposition has a say in it as well. McCarthy got his opening tactics wrong but made good 2nd half subs that changed the dynamic of the game in their favour.

We had to hang on but we did hang on! So lets just enjoy another 3 points, still being unbeaten and being third in the table! :)

I would never have brought Ben Arfa on today, he'd have come straight back off with an injury.

    Lover earned a game!

True, but he waited half an hour or so to realise we were under pressure. He should of reacted when Wolves made there subs.

Can't wrap him up in cotton wool. The premier league is tough and if we have to leave him out when we play physical team's
    he'll rarely feature this season.

There was no need to play him though, he's made two apps so why throw him in when we're under pressure from, as you say, a physical side?

He would of given us a different outlet and maybe Wolves would have been a bit more cautious

So does Lovenkrands, to a point. What kind of message does it say that you can score two goals then not get another game because a "big name" is fit. Team should be picked on form, not reputation, or Santon would have started.

I watched. Seems to be 4 or 5 threads going complaining about the game though which had me wondering.

A win is a win is a win in my eyes.

I'd rather be lucky and win than unlucky and lose.

I worry sometimes about Pardew's decisions, but can't really argue when we are 3rd in the league :)

Disagree there, In my opinion Lovenkrands offers very little. Fair enough he bagged two against Forest but I wouldnt say he's on good form.
Yes he might of deserved a game after that but we had better options available to us.

This has annoyed me somewhat lol.

Yeh, I understand peoples frustrations at the 2nd half performance. But, lets look at things. We're 3rd in the league, and unbeaten. With one of the best defense records in the league.

So, to say Pards in inept, is somewhat harsh.

He's done a sterling job so far. Im bloody proud of the lads again. Going to Wolves aint easy, and we have gone there and won.

    Happy ****ing days!

    This.

I said this in the match thread but we've been so generally unlucky in the past it's about time these sort of things evened themselves out! We never used to get the rub of the green and decisions never really evened themselves out throughout the season. I know people might disagree and fair enough, but I truly believe it!

Also, I do question bringing Cabaye off for Guthrie. Obertan should have come off. He wasn't providing a good enough outlet with his pace towards the end to warrant staying on! But Pards is NOT tactically inept and he is NOT a ******! Ok, he might get one or two subs wrong in my eyes which yes, can be dangerous, but at the end of the day, we all love the toon and we all have different opinions and so can he (Bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment. . . But he's not doing too bad for us at the moment!!)

However, 3 points and that's all that matters! Who cares what the media say about us having a lucky start to the season. . . What matters is that we're making the most of it!

And on a lighter note, all the pundits said we wouldn't stay fourth for long and they were right. . . THIRD tonight boys!! :smiley-finger007:

There's "form" but there's also common sense.

There is an OVERWHELMING stack of evidence that Lovenkrands can do reasonably well against Chamionship level opposition, but offers very little against EPL teams. That theory has been proven over, and over, and over again.

Yeah we can give him a run out because he bags two against Forest, but it doesn't take much common sense to tell that he's highly likely to just continue with his sub-standard EPL performances, and that's exactly what he did today once again.

He can cut it at low levels, but he can't cut it at this level. It's as clear as day now.

PS: Heaven forbid that Shola scores a goal in our next Cup match.
