Ben Arfa is exactly who we needed. Someone with a lot of skill, class and a good footballing brain to keep the passes in his ear. Pardew should have subbed him on and then had a word in his ear which told him to minimise any risks and just use his skills to keep the ball within the team.

Watching him being interviewed now on Final Score. At least he's acknowledging that we were lucky today and is not deluding himself.

Still, I'm not complaining. Cracking result! <ok>

I bet you won't be saying the same thing if we keep comitting the same mistakes and lose 3 points (or more) over the course of the season because of them.

People are too fickle. If the team lost or drew then people would be battering Pardew for the decisions he made, but since we (somehow) scraped though all is forgiven and it's a case of 'who cares'. Thank **** Pardew doesn't rest on his laurels like that.

Surely the Obertan substitution was to run down the clock? And going by your logic Marveaux keeps the ball better than Obertan.

as long as he learns from his mistakes it will be ok in the long run i can see why he brought on guthrie but not lovenkrands.

Pardew even said that Ba is a good forward to have as he drops into midfield when needed. So, when we are under the cosh a bit, he puts on lovenkrands who doesn't drop into midfield.

Anyways 3 points and a bit of luck! Great RESULT!!! Come on boys...plus I had £28 on it! Woopee!

I'll be celebrating the win tonight, don't get me wrong. However, the same mistakes seem to be cropping up (i.e. Pardew's mental subs) which would be completely taken advantage of by better teams.

We seem to have started this season the opposite way to the last one. Last season we were dropping points against lower sides but gaining points against better sides. This season we've been finally gaining those points from the sides we should (on paper) be beating. Now we ALSO need to keep grabbing the points from the tougher teams and we're going to have a cracking season.

However, it would be extremely frustrating if we started sliding down the table due to conceding points against tougher teams, and especially frustrating if that slide was due to our OWN mistakes and decisions. The season is still very young, and while we've had a superb start, there is still the middle and the end to go!

For now, let's celebrate, but I hope Pardew sits down with the team next week and looks for the things to work on. Resting on laurels is never a wise move.

Imo Colo and Taylor have been slacking off lately, specially after the breaks. We've got tough games coming up vs everton, city, chelsea and manU, we're going to need some draws in there and some complete defensive performances. Wolves aren't a bad team, McCarthys got them playing and our midfield dominated them in the first half.

Why would you take two players off for Santon though? ;)

Lover probably earned some game time and pards was probably trying to put on a more defensive midfielder in Guthrie's case, to get some fresh legs on to hold on after wolves scored. Not what I would have done but I guess it (just) worked in the end. Personally I would like to see Marv get a start over Obertan or at least a good half hour, I know he's back from a season long injury but it'd be good to see what he can do!

We'd have to royally **** things up to not finish above Sunderland this season.

In fact, if we take them on at SJP and win there, it would be even a larger gap.
