Still trying to figure that out to be honest.

Loved RDR2, God of War and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Final fantasy 7 remake was pretty good. GTA V was decent.

The other assassins creed games I found to be a whole lot of following people around, Witcher I ****ing hated with a passion, skyrim gave me motion sickness.

Im on Odyssey now, I thought it was going to be a massive but boring and generic game but it's actually pretty great. Fun quests and characters and I can't get enough of soaking in ancient Greece.

I tried it and just couldn't get into it first time around, gave it another go and got hooked. By the end of the Atlantis DLC I think I was probably as into it as I was RDR2. Pretty stunning world building and story. Gets better and better as well, some of the side missions are ****ing hilarious.

Seriously excited about Valhalla in November.

Yeah the quality of the writing took me by surprise I had it in my head it was going to be all quantity no quality but not at all. Just did the mission with the dude who pretends to be the Minotaur that was a laugh.

Being able to climb anything and everything is good too, it's relaxing having the freedom to go anywhere you damn well please with nothing blocking your way. I've been getting into the cult quests lately I find that an enjoyable aside.

The kid who gives you the tour of that city at the start was pure gold.

"Aren't you worried someone will steal your Minotaur tunics?"

    "No. They're tunics for Minotaurs."

All quite kitsch and silly but super funny.

I'd definitely recommend the Atlantis extension when you get further in. It's three completely new worlds to explore and they're pretty stunning.

Nice one looking forward to that then, I'm well past the point in a game that initial enthusiasm wears off so I'll be seeing it through to the end. If anything the more I play of it the more I like it.

Aye can’t see any serious folk buying the S, but they will get a few buyers for it being niche.

The fact that the full powered PS5 digital has same specs will kill it unless it’s same spec as the X, they haven’t released info yet it’s all speculation.

I got my pre order sorted. Total fluke really, noticed an article in my suggested feeds saying amazon pre orders were being released at 9AM that day, which was in 10 mins time. Spent 20 mins refreshing, couldn't get on,set off for work, tried again when I was stuck in traffic and managed to get one.

On the good games subject, Witcher 3 is the best game I've ever played, I reckon. Mind, it's a complete life swallower, easy 2 or 3 hundred hours in it if you do everything there is to do. Wouldn't get away with that any more since we had the bairn. Or it'd take a year to complete.

Bought it. My weapon degraded to about 20%.

Tried to find a blacksmith to fix it.

Died 14 times in my efforts.

Never made it to the blacksmith.

If i wanted that kind of punishment I'd switch the console off and talk to my wife.

Ive had no joy whatsoever yet, was 13,000 in the cue for Currys at one point then had to go on a zoom call.

Not convinced there will be massive shortages but I want to get on a list somewhere! Who did you bag one through? Amazon direct or a seller on there?

Amazon direct, mate. You can get your name on a list at Argos, Smyths toys and Game if you search up ps5 on their sites. Personally, I never trust the emails to arrive in time so probably worth googling regularly to see when the next lot are dropping and who with and be ready with your refresh finger fully warmed up.

I agree with you though, I think there will be plenty of opportunities to get one ordered before the release date. It's good for business if they only release in small batches initially to get the 'sold out in 10 mins' headlines going.

As a 40-something bloke I don't have time to play any more, but the bairn is 9 and still loves the PS3 which I let him use.

I had in mind that we'd get the PS5 as a joint Christmas present for us both, but having seen the prices I'm not so sure now.

Will the non-digital one be backward compatible? I.e will he be able to play his lego ****e on it? What are most people going for - the all digital version?

None of the PS are gonna be backwards compatible they’ve said, which seems mad. May change if there’s an uproar. Xbox is.

Personally just gonna do the digital as I’ve no real interest in having a physical disc, always buy though the online stores anyway. Spec is the same on the machine, Xbox haven’t confirmed there’s is yet which makes that the one that’s a no go.

It's backwards compatible with PS4 which suits me but nothing before that so no good if you've got PS3 games.

I get nearly all my games digital only too but I was thinking that getting the one with a disc drive doubles your options for picking games up on sale and I reckon over time that'd close the gap in price between them. It plays some kind of sexy ultra hd 4K Blu-rays too which is a bonus, means nowt for us on our oldish plasma but I'm not buying a new one until the kids are older and stop scratching the bloody screen.
