I can no longer joke about it. The level of incompetence of this Government is causing the unnecessary deaths of tens of thousands of people. Something has to change. Johnson and his mate Demonic Cummings have to go.
I know what you're saying Libby, I'm sorry to hear that it's a piss take to be honest. How can people like your friend lose their mum, while I played footy sunday, 11-a-side. Makes zero sense. The rules are vague, we get more info from twitter than any official sources. I had some sympathy as it's a difficult situation to sort out, but it's hard to imagine anyone doing a worse leadership job. Somewhere between 'The science™' and the real world, someone is causing a colossal cluster ****.
I lost what low confidence I had with the government's handling of the crisis when Cheltenham Liverpool vs Atletico Johnson going to Twickenham and the ineffective late lockdown was the response. Oh let's not forget the stopping of test and trace, the PPE and care homes fiascos. It's an ongoing list of almighty **** ups causing unnecessary suffering and deaths.
So sad that the late diagnosis might have an impact on her fight against the cancer, but hopefully not too late that she can’t have a few more years of a good life, with manageable pain/symptoms. My wife, although frail since her last radiotherapy treatment 21st July, has survived for 6 years, instead of the original 6-12 months prognosis. Fingers crossed for her and her family.
Just copied this. The government is now only counting deaths from Covid, if the dead person managed to get their hands on a Covid test within 28 days of their death, and tested positive. Let’s not forget that 20% of those who are lucky enough to get tested, receive a false negative result, due to the quality of the government’s chosen test. And some people who test positive can spend up to 5 weeks on a ventilator before passing away - which is longer than the 28 day period - and would therefore be declared dead of respiratory failure, even if they had tested positive for Covid five weeks earlier. The ongoing national shortage of tests - particularly acute in the North of England - means the government’s own death tallies will be significantly inaccurate. It’s almost as if the government have spent this year devising clever ways to keep the *reported* number of Covid deaths during a second wave, down to a bare minimum (regardless of what that means for public health outcomes)
I have sort of got used to politicians lying to me on a daily basis so there is nothing new here except it reinforces the view that Johnson couldn't recognise the truth it came up and kicked him in the balls. The tragedy is there are those that will believe him.
I now work at a test centre and during the shift I have finished (7 hours) we tested 6 cars. It's a joke.
I don't want to say. But it is apparently the same all over the UK. Only people with an appointment can access the site.
ok. Is it semi rural or a big town? It’s bonkers. My colleague had to drive from North west of Cardiff to Exeter for a test.
I think he recognises the truth but chooses to ignore it for his own political and selfish ends. Agree that the tradegy is that so many people believe him.
My son was told not to take my grandson, for a covid test, because the NHS advice line agreed that his symptoms were that of a cold (as my son had told the school after they had sent the boy home) and not coronavirus. Had he needed to be tested he would have needed to go to Brighton, as my son was told that there were no tests available at Portsmouth. Grandson is now (happily) having two weeks at home, because the school will not allow his return without a test result or his having isolated for 14 days. The new normal.
Saw some interesting and thought provoking information, reference the admissions to hospitals, of covid sufferers. Information supplied by Dr Christina Pagel, a professor in clinical research for University College London, and a member of Independent SAGE. The admission rate, has doubled in a week, and if it continues to grow at the same rate, over the next two weeks, we will be back to the same level of admissions as we had March 16, a week before lockdown. The median age for recent hospital admissions is 45-55. The inference from this is that although the surge in infections is being driven by a younger age group, it is their parents who are suffering as a consequence. Long term effects. 20% of those hospitalised with flu, tend to need long term care for kidney damage. With Covid this figure is 45%. A recent study states that 85% of those hospitalised with covid need some form of long term care, and the message is that this is VERY DIFFERENT TO FLU.
Two covid testing centres opened in Southampton. Appointments only. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18730037.residents-must-book-corona-tests/
We are short staffed at my workplace because 2 colleagues have had to take 14 days off due to kids being sent home from school with colds. Surely some communication between schools and the NHS ought to be possible? Though actually the NHS Testing Centres and advice lines aren’t NHS run at all, they are privatised public services run by For Profit organisations.
Which is why it frustrates me when Johnson refers to it as the NHS test and trace, just so that he can accuse those who criticise it as an attack on the NHS, when it is an attack on his corruption, in giving high paying contracts to party donors and friends. Apologies for political comment on this thread, but it is connected.
