    Played this afternoon at my local course and shot 4 4 4 3 5 4 5 4 2 out 35 5 4 4 3 4 6 2 4 3 in 35 Total 70. The ball just flowed lovingly. Not bad for a bloke in his almost mid 50s with a bad back, strained Achilles and dodgy knee. Hit straight, putt well, beautiful.

    Why couldn't you play like that, 30 years ago.

    Is Golf affected tomorrow?

    I didnt play five times a week back then and that really makes a difference. Plus, I've played my course about 200 times, I know every shot, every club. I dont think golf will be affected and even if it is, I will still play. Sod 'em.

    You need to play somewhere that's going to test you. When I was playing fairly regular around 2008, I played Wynyard Hall a couple of times. That's when I realised once and for all how **** I was.

    <laugh> Just hit straight and long and putt well! Oh, and learn how to hit out of bunkers and block out people in front of you who might be playing slowly (it can mess up your rhythm). And toughen up mentally, forget about bad shots and just get on with it (you never know what's around the corner in golf). You wanna be a good golfer you gotta think like a good golfer. Got it?! <laugh>

    Oh, and every golfer on here should be shouting 'well done dorty' for shooting great scores. I'm doing it for all amateur golfers!

    Now there’s a story.

    <laugh>

    I love the game but never have the time to play or practice. Manage to get to the driving range a handful of times a year and play about one or two unsocial rounds a year. Going from one side of the fairway to the other. But I usually manage 2 or 3 shots each round which make Ballesteros look a rank amateur (at least in my mind anyway) and convince me that if I practiced a little bit more then I could still make a living on the Seniors tour.

    Taylormade M6. eBay job. I'm selling my Ping G30 it's the SFT. I used to tend to slice off the tee. I've worked quite a bit on my driver and been getting good connection but my bad shot is now always a block straight left. I find my eye is just seeing the pings face slightly shut at address and it's wrecking my head. I picked up an M6 in American golf a few weeks ago and instantly felt miles more comfortable stood over the ball.

    Nice one mate, that's a good driver to use.
    That feeling good stood over the ball with the driver is so important, often it's only fractions that make the difference between a straight shot and say a slice. I use a PingG400 (£300), I've done a load of work with it but in the end if I stand close to the ball I put 90% of my drives 260-270 yards straight down the fairway whereas standing further away induces a slice. Magic.

    If I remember correctly, when I bought the PingG400 my club head speed was measured at 104mph. Not bad for an old man but to be honest, it is effortless.
