Did you see this article in the news?

    https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/...-threatens-their-future-earning-power-2968760

Yes, I'm sure we have plenty of money-grabbing mercenaries who play for themselves and just care about the money they get, but most of them aren't so brazen about it. But hey, if money's the only thing you care about, then you do you, but I'm not going to have many fond regards for you. Good thing Portsmouth aren't hours away from bankruptcy like in 2013, I bet Lee Brown would be one of those players demanding his entire salary even if it may help to force the club into liquidation and all the non-football creditors are getting barely anything.

Portsmouth sign Michael Jacobs on two-year deal after Wigan release.

please log in to view this image

The 28-year-old has penned a two-year deal, with the club holding the option for a further 12 months.

He left Wigan at the end of last season and will wear the number 24 shirt during his time at Fratton Park.

Blues boss Kenny Jackett said: “Michael’s an exciting player with good Championship experience and an excellent track record of getting out of this division.

“He adds to our attacking options and I see him as a very natural number 10 in our 4-2-3-1 system, while he can also play in the wide positions.

“A player who likes to get on the ball and create things, we hope he can be the link between our midfield and attack.

“Michael performs with a lot of enthusiasm and has the ability to go past people. He can drop his shoulder when 1 v 1 and take the ball either way comfortably.

“I’ve worked with him before at Wolves and he did very well there, as he’s done at all of his previous clubs.”

Jacobs began his career with Northampton, where he impressed enough to earn a move to Championship side Derby.

He was then signed by Jackett – initially on loan – at Wolves and helped them secure the League One title with a record points tally of 103.

Jacobs moved to Wigan in the summer of 2015, where he picked up a medal for topping the third tier table on two more occasions.

He made a total of 188 appearances for the Latics and scored 32 goals, including a fine solo strike against Blackburn back in June.

Looks like a good signing in a position which really needed strengthening.

Teenage goalkeeper Taylor Seymour has signed a one-year professional contract with Pompey.

The 18-year-old spent time on trial with the Blues last season, featuring in several academy and reserve matches.

Player development manager Mark Kelly said: “Taylor did really well when he came in and worked with the youth team.

“He’s a strong boy, who is willing to listen and learn. He showed a lot of positive attributes and so we decided to extend his stay with us.

“Now he needs to keep his head down and continue working hard to make sure he maintains that development.

“We want to make sure that he builds on those encouraging signs that we’ve already seen from him.”

Portsmouth have confirmed that forward Reeco Hackett-Fairchild has returned to National League side Bromley on loan, after spending last season with the Kent team.

The 22-year-old, who arrived at Pompey from Bromley in January, has returned to the National League side on loan until January 3.

Pompey do, however, have the option to recall Hackett-Fairchild after an initial 28 day period.

Hackett-Fairchild has found his opportunities limited at Portsmouth since joining Kenny Jackett's men in January, with the 22-year-old only making one appearance for Pompey in the EFL Trophy against Walsall shortly after his arrival.

Rasmus Nicolaisen Arrives On Loan - Pompey sign central defender from Danish champions.

please log in to view this image

Pompey have signed 6' 3" defender Rasmus Nicolaisen on a season-long loan deal from FC Midtjylland.

The move for the 23-year-old former Denmark youth international is subject to international clearance.

Blues boss Kenny Jackett said: “We’ve been working hard to bring in a left-footed centre-back and felt it was the right time to branch out into the European market.

“Rasmus is someone who’s been on our radar for quite a while now and joins us from a very good club.

“He was very keen to come to England and so we’re delighted to be able to sign him on loan. I’m sure it will be a positive partnership for him and us.”

Nicolaisen progressed through the FC Midtjylland academy and made his debut for their first team in 2017.

He was part of the squad that lifted the top-flight title in both 2017/18 and 2019/20, as well as the Danish Cup in between.

Nicolaisen has also appeared in the Europa League and has scored six goals in 51 appearances for FC Midtjylland.

‘The Wolves’ are currently managed by Brian Priske, who featured for Pompey in the Premier League during the 2005/06 campaign.

It looks likely that Gareth Evans will be leaving the club in the near future. Sad on a personal level, but makes sense on a football level if another player is coming in to take his place (especially a striker !). He has been an excellent servant to Pompey since he joined the club back in 2015, and scored 32 goals in 173 appearances. He needs regular first team football, is 32 years of age, and would do well in Division Two. If he goes, then I wish him well. Great character !!

Bradford City have re-signed Gareth Evans after Portsmouth allowed the midfielder to leave by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old, who netted 14 goals in 83 matches in his first spell with the Bantams, has agreed a two-year deal for his return to Valley Parade.

Evans spent five years at Pompey and scored 38 goals in 215 appearances, captaining the club and winning promotion from League Two in 2017.

"I really enjoyed playing for the club last time," Evans said.

" have some very fond memories. I would love nothing more than to achieve success here."

Following his departure, Portsmouth expressed their gratitude to the former Rotherham, Macclesfield and Fleetwood player for his five-year stint.

"Gareth has been a fantastic servant to Portsmouth Football Club and will be missed by us all," chief executive Mark Catlin said.

"He played a pivotal role in our rise to League One, as well as several promotion pushes over the past few seasons."

Portsmouth in chase to sign 21-yr-old who quit Aston Villa this summer.

please log in to view this image

Portsmouth are among several clubs in the hunt to sign midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes on a free transfer after his exit from Aston Villa, Football Insider understands.

The 21-year-old, who is a product of the Villans’ youth system, left the Premier League side at the end of his contract earlier this summer and has secured the attention of a number of clubs across the Football League.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Pompey are joined by the likes of Hull City, Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers and MK Dons as the clubs battling for his signature.

Doyle-Hayes played three times for Villa’s senior side after breaking through the youth ranks, with all of his appearances coming among the starting XI in the League Cup between 2017 and 2018.

The majority of his senior experience has come from loan spells at both Cambridge Town, where he featured six times, and at Cheltenham Town, where he made 36 appearances and helped the club to the League Two play-offs last season.

Born in the Republic of Ireland, he has also featured for every one of his country’s youth teams up to the under-21s.

Portsmouth, Swindon & Gillingham in chase to sign Leeds midfielder.
please log in to view this image

Portsmouth, Swindon Town and Gillingham are chasing Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz ahead of Monday night, Football Insider can reveal.

This site broke the news yesterday that United have given the 19-year-old the green light to go out on loan this season.

This has alerted EFL clubs and a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bogusz is most likely to be heading to League One for the rest of the 2020-21 campaign.

Portsmouth, Swindon and Gillingham, who all play in the third tier, have contacted the Premier League club to express their interest in the teenager.

United are keen for the teenager to get some senior experience and want him to be playing regularly.

Bogusz, who turned 19 in August, has made it clear he does not want another season in the Under-23s.

“I hope to be on loan,” Bogusz told TVP Sport, as reported by Sportowe Fakty. “I would like to play in a major league every week because I miss the ‘normal’ games.

“Talks are still going on. I get along. I do not want to confuse what these directions are, but there are several options.”

The Poland Under-21 international has made a big impression at Elland Road since signing aged 17 in January of last year on a two-and-a-half year deal from Ruch Chorzow in his homeland.

He is a versatile midfielder who can operate in central or more attacking positions.

He is 21 years of age, 5' 10" tall, and played on loan last season for Doncaster Rovers where he scored 6 goals in 28 games. Could be a useful back up for Ellis Harrison and John Marquis.

Boreham Wood chairman's message to Portsmouth, Sunderland, QPR, Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Charlton amid Sorba Thomas interest.

please log in to view this image

Pompey would like to add to their attacking ranks before the close of the transfer window today.

However, it remains unclear how high up 6' tall right winger/striker Sorba Thomas is on their radar.

In the statement issued by Thomas, he said: ‘After a leaked article was anonymously put into the public domain yesterday and after much speculation that Charlton Athletic had made an offer for Wood fans favourite Sorba Thomas, the club can now publicly state, that Charlton have in fact made a bid.

‘But their kind offer falls a bit short of the club’s valuation of the player, which they were made very aware of that before making their offer in writing.

‘We have out of respect to both Charlton Athletic, Steve Gallen and of course the player, reiterated our asking price to Charlton by detailing what would trigger our acceptance and we have also stated that we are very happy to take payments in stages to assist the player securing his move into the EFL.’

Hunter added: ‘We’ve carefully nurtured Sorba through our academy and over the last three or four years given him a great first team shop window to showcase his talent.

‘In truth, everyone has now seen his talent, knows his value as a player, what he represents and what his worth is to the club.

‘It’s very unfortunate that Sorbs was advised to pull out of our league game at King’s Lynn on Tuesday, to perhaps force through a move, but as my mother used to say, youth is wasted on the young. That said, as a smaller club we must stand up to that type of behaviour and orchestrated bullying.

‘What I can say is categorically is that, if Charlton Athletic, Barnsley, Peterborough United, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, QPR or any of the other rumoured interested clubs do match our valuation, then they can of course talk to the player.

‘If Sorbs and his representatives then choose to go, he will leave Boreham Wood with our full blessing and well wishes.

‘If our valuation is not met, then we expect Sorbs to act professionally, keep working hard and if he does that, then his talent will do the rest.

“Neither the gaffer nor myself honestly wish to stand in his way, as he’s worked hard to get to where he presently sits, but everyone already knows that he really is an outstanding talent. “You don’t sell the family silver for under the market value.

‘We have also been patient and developed him beautifully here since he was 16. As such we do feel he genuinely has a true development value to this football club and we believe any fee has been honestly earned."

Jordy Hiwula: Portsmouth sign free-agent forward on short-term deal.
please log in to view this image

Portsmouth have signed free-agent forward Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila (known as Jordy Hiwula) on a short-term deal until 20 January.

The 26-year-old, 5' 10" striker, spent the past two seasons with Coventry, playing 61 games, before leaving in the summer.

He could make his debut for Pompey against Sunderland on Saturday. He will wear the number 26 shirt during his time at Fratton Park.

"He's a technical player and also a very good finisher, who has done well in this division in the recent past," assistant manager Joe Gallen told the club website.

He is a former Manchester City academy player, who has represented England at Under 18 & 19 levels. A good short term replacement for injured striker Ellis Harrison.

I reckon we have a smaller first team squad this season compared to last season, Ides. At least by 4 or 5 players. I have seen a video of the new striker's goals, and can say he is a very fast and tricky player with an eye for a goal. Apparently Coventry manager Mark Robins let him go because he now plays a different system from the one which earned them promotion. Hopefully his loss is our gain !!

A sensible option to take him on short term initially. I'm sure if he fits in and performs with goals he'll be offered an extenstion

Pompey's third choice keeper Duncan Turnbull has joined non-league Dulwich Hamlet of the National League South on loan. Already at Dulwich is one time Pompey triallist, and ex Chelsea academy, Falkirk, and Sunderland midfielder Ruben Sammutt.

Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic are among the clubs plotting moves to sign Eastleigh striker Ben House, Football Insider understands.

The 21-year-old, who joined the National League side on a free transfer after leaving Reading this summer, has caught the eye with six goals in eight appearances across all competitions this season.

The Surrey-born forward started his youth career at Aldershot Town before he made the move to Reading, where he signed his first professional contract in 2017.

He spent time out on loan at both Swindon Town and Dagenham and Redbridge before he made his first-team debut for the Royals as a substitute against Cardiff City in the FA Cup in January this year. His nine-minute cameo was the only senior appearance he made during his time at the Madjeski Stadium and he joined Eastleigh, who finished 16th in the National League last season, after his contract at Reading expired.

House has been a standout performer for the south coast outfit and his goals have helped the club to fifth in the table despite having played at least two games less than the sides around them. His goals, the latest of which came against Yeovil Town in a 3-1 win on Tuesday evening, have caught the eye of several clubs up the footballing ladder.

He has played for both Scotland under 20's and under 21's.
