I just can’t see how anyone thought Burnsey got stuck into him in any way. His questions weren’t that hard. He just seems to be running scared of him. Of course we want him to answer hard questions but he looked like he was going to burst out crying. Can’t see him making it.
Right, this is simple, it's been 15 years since we played in Division 3 and 55 years since we took this/any title so what I want is a City Manager who says we are going to take this division apart and we are going up as ****ing Champions. Soz that's the dream, dare to dream, buts it's not going to happen is it.
Given one of the local information sites telling you the interesting facts about Gillingham contained only this one line "Gillingham is a place in Medway, North Kent. It has around 100,000 people, and a football team." I've had to expand it to the surrounding area. The name was once "Jillyingham Water", although the name was derived from a man called Gylla, which derives from the old English gyllan, meaning "to shout". In 1667, the fortification known as the Gillingham Line was designed to protect English Ships. The Dutch sailed past this and sunk many and captured other ships of the line, including the British Flag Ship HMS Royal Charles, and led to a quick end to the war and a favourable peace for the Dutch. It was one of the worst defeats in the Royal Navy's history, and one of the worst suffered by the British military. Horace George Franks called it the "most serious defeat it has ever had in its home waters." In the 1920's, the fire brigade demonstrated their skills at the local fare by setting light to and extinguishing a fire in a mock house they built for a mock wedding staged for the purpose. Unfortunately one year it went tragically wrong, but initially most of the spectators did not realize anything was amiss, taking the cries for help they heard to be part of the performance, and reportedly cheering and applauding what they believed to be realistic and spectacular effects until they witnessed two boys with their clothing ablaze jump to their deaths from the top of the structure. The fire was extinguished within a few minutes, but had been of such intensity that 13 people died at the scene. Two victims were rescued alive, but both died of their injuries in the hospital, St Bartholomew's, for which they had been intending to raise funds, bringing the final death toll to 15. Britain's first motor show was held in Tunbridge Wells The very first white lines on the road were painted on the London to Folkestone Road in Ashford, in 1914. The first speeding fine was handed out in East Peckham If you were born north of the river , you have the right to call yourself a Kentish Man, or Kentish Maid. If you were born south of the river, you are a Man of Kent, or Maid of Kent. Fordwich, near Canterbury, is the smallest town – by population – in Britain. It also has the smallest town hall in the country. Kent is the main area for hazelnut growing in the UK. Pocahontas was buried in Gravesend. Sevenoaks actually has eight oak trees.
I am going to be incredibly optimistic and predict a 1-1 draw The only thing that's giving me doubts as to whether we could be so lucky as to get a point is that ****ing McCann interview, begorrah
Stubborn, idiot, annoying, weak, shouldn't be here. Under pressure McCann, a few say and the rest follow and yes you deserve it. Fan base gutted, big club in this league however with you at the helm that means nothing. Other clubs fans around us think we will do well however they don't understand the lack of confidence we have with you and the problems we have with the owners. Can we do well? Yes maybe get a decent striker in and hope you have learnt by your mistakes and that you and this is so important have the guts to go out there and have learnt so much from last season, personally I hope you prove me and many others wrong, realise how much hurt you have caused. Criticism and hurt affect everyone in different ways and I'm sure you are hurting well learn, now go out ,show no fear and show is what you can do, I seriously hope you do well because that's good for all of us. For now I'm happy with another beer hopefully enjoy the season everyone
Rodney Marsh. In an approximation of his words, we entered the playing area and rode round the pitch hanging off a ****ing fire engine with sirens blaring.
The girl I was going out with, in '67, was helping with the display scoreboard on the Sandwich Golf Course when Tony Jacklin managed the first hole-in-one on telly. I visited her parents in '68 down in Sandwich - her old man never stopped talking about it. I even remember the name of the street her parents lived on... "Mote Sole" ! A hell of a step up from 'Essle Rerd" ! Nice spot Kent. Especially Cantab.
Gonna be a tough game today. Hull City 'too big' for League One but Gillingham boss wants opening-day giant killing The Tigers have suffered two relegations inside four years to find themselves in League One Philip Buckingham please log in to view this image Gillingham boss Steve Evans Gillingham boss Steve Evans says Hull City are “too big” for League One as the two clubs prepare to begin a new season at Priestfield tomorrow afternoon. Two relegations inside four seasons have dragged the Tigers down from the Premier League to the third tier and this weekend brings a first game at this level since promotion was won under Peter Taylor in 2004-05. The 15 years in between have brought five years in the top-flight, an FA Cup final and a Europa League adventure but Grant McCann is facing a very different challenge this season. City’s head coach has been given the task of guiding his team back to the Championship at the first attempt and Evans is respectful of a new “giant” joining the likes of Portsmouth and Sunderland in League One. “They will want to bounce straight back and I know the power of Hull City,” said Evans, who starts his second season in charge of the Gills. please log in to view this image Hull City head coach Grant McCann (left) exchanges words with Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson “I was in Yorkshire for many years with Rotherham and Leeds United and I know how much they want to start well but we want to start well too and we want to make it competitive. “I know their manager (Grant McCann). He is a friend of mine and lives local to me. Grant will want to prove he is the manager that will lead them back up to the Championship. It is too big a club to be in League One, it’s another giant.” City can expect an inhospitable welcome from a Gillingham side considered an outside bet for the top six. Evans’ men lost only eight of their 35 league games before the Covid-19 pandemic forced a lockdown in the lower divisions and were 10th when the action was called to a halt. A summer of personnel changes, including the exit of City man Alfie Jones and the capture of Tigers academy graduate Robbie McKenzie, makes Gillingham more of an unknown quantity but there is still optimism within the camp that they can mix it with League One’s best. One thing missing from a juicy opener at Priestfield will be supporters as clubs continue to wait on a green light to open their gates to a limited number. please log in to view this image Alfie Jones spent last season on loan at Gillingham “It is just a shame,” Evans added to Kent Online. “That Town End would have had 2,500 Hull fans behind them. It would have been a great crowd and a buzzing atmosphere. “We need to create that ourselves but that is the same for every football club up and down the country. I don’t like it, I think it’s rubbish, but you have to be self-motivated. “Some players will play better with no crowd, some respond to spectators and a crowd. “It is really sad in these times it has to be done but I am very respectful for people who have lost loved ones. “I have been through that pain recently, nothing to do with Covid, but my mother (died) and it was the worst two weeks of my life so I can imagine if you are watching someone die from that virus it must be incredibly tough.”
McCann is going to spring a surprise on Evans by playing 4-3-3. Gillingham only lost 8 games all last season (from 35 before the season was ended early). We lost 8 out of 8 games. I can only see this going one way, and it isn’t ours.
