The British company is due to be struck off (but I don't think it has yet). The one they set up in America still exists, as that's the one that provided the loan to Madrox. They wouldn't need the British company if they're buying madrox (I believe last time the intention was to buy Sunderland from Madrox, now it would make more sense just to buy Madrox)

Think that only applies to the company in the UK, there's still a company in America set up which controls the loan. Someone will confirm it better than me

Edit - see Guinness Guzzler said it better :emoticon-0100-smile

If you think back to when Donald broke the news live on talk sport that someone had agreed to be manager, he suggested it would be done dusted and revealed within days. He said it would go to the solicitors. Then Hearts of Midlothian said Sunderland have not even asked permission to speak to Ross yet.
So any timescale coming from Donald i would at least double. I assume Barnes is getting this info from Donald.

By the podcast he said he hadn't spoken to Donald in months and hinted his source was someone else that had approached him after he had done some initial digging

If hypothetically the deal had gone to the EFL checks yesterday, what would the timescale be in terms of completion?

Could be anything I suppose, would depend who they were checking and their current capacity etc. They have to do checks on their businesses and personal finances; Donald was easy to do because all his businesses were UK based and insurance is pretty heavily regulated. If it was the Russian (I doubt it is but he's been mentioned by magnus) then that could take weeks trying to find all his businesses in different countries and gather enough info to assess them. If it's someone who has already been through the process, or who has no red flags then I would have thought it could be done in a couple of weeks if it's just confirming that nothing has changed. There's been suggestion that they also discuss the person's business plan to make sure it won't risk the club. If it was FPP or Fuhrman I'd imagine end of the month could be doable even if there were some odds and ends to tie up first.

Can I just point out that if Stewie went to Hearts to allow us to speak to Jack Ross, then it is absolute proof that he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the running of a football club.

  11. You're not being remotely greedy, just applying some good old common sense. It is imperative that whoever ends up owning us and intending to drive us back to the promised land has money, business sense and connections. It's also just as imperative that the people appointed to manage the everyday affairs of the club are extremely experienced, competent individuals in the world of football. Football is our business,.....the marketing, sponsorship deals, maximising the stadium resources are all important......,but it's what happens on the pitch that ultimately will count.Nothing else will do,without it,the whole project will be doomed to failure,as recent history confirms. As soon as this deal is complete, and new owners are installed,it's to there that we'll be shifting our attention. This club is where it is because of rank bad management over a long period. It must never be allowed to happen again.

IIRC GOM mentioned that if the Russian had less than 10% and was not in a position of control then the Fit and Proper test would not apply to him.
Main problem at EFL will be staffing CovI'd and Wigan all of which could delay matters

Couldn't agree more. Over the years we've had elements of what's required, but i don't think we've had them all at once or in the right mix. From what's being said we've got people with money interested in us, I'm just hoping whoever it is they've got the footballing side covered. After all of the speculation and rumour the main thing we'll be wanting are RESULTS and they're the hardest part to provide. I'm keeping everything crossed at the moment cause everyone supporting this club needs a lift (not the broken one) and we need one soon.:emoticon-0148-yes:

This is why, to a large extent, I find the clamour for billionaire owners a bit odd. We've had one of them before and it wasn't that great. What we really need is someone who knows how to run a football club.

Its not that long ago that people were saying that no billionaire would ever be interested in owning either of the NE's big clubs. I think its pretty obvious that the clubs themselves are massively attractive and so I was pretty sure that eventually a financial heavyweight would turn up. Massive wealth doesn't mean anything if they don't understand football or don't bring in people who do.
