I think that the problem with your views on the US Election on the PL board was that they were basically around the one shooting and not really about the election. To say that your views conflicted with others I think is not correct, there are many on that board that share your views. You came in from left field and started on about a shooting, which will have an impact but hopefully isn't all the election is about. As explained you were heading into an area that, as far as I understand, had caused issues in the past. The sanction was too extreme and I believe you have been told this. You say that one can't just hate Trump, and yet you simply dismiss Biden as a Joke. I dislike Trump and his administration for many reasons and if I could vote in the US elections I would vote for Biden but not because I dislike Trump. Every country had the same warnings about COVID-19, OK maybe not as early as perhaps it could have been and some countries have done better than others. Assuming they all had the same starting point you would have to say that the differences are due to the administration in those countries and by definition the leader of that administration. By certain parameters the US and UK haven't done as well as comparable countries so that's where Trump and Johnson attract criticism. If percentage excess deaths compared to a normal year are considered then I can just about see how Trump can claim he has done better than many European Countries, the P Factor I think it is called. Inexorably heading toward 200,000 deaths though, as the election approaches, isn't a good place to be. Even on this percentage increase basis Johnson comes out badly. Is this a blame culture, I don't know, but if you have the top job then, like it or not, that's where the buck stops and somebody has to be accountable for all these deaths and economic effects and it isn't you or I. The other day when I mentioned addressing the cause not the symptoms of the rioting and a number of posters immediately leapt to the shootings and killings as the cause. That wasn't what I meant, I was referring to the cause of the unrest being the inequalities in society which drives behaviours, prejudices and ultimately violence. Violence is never an answer but if one is ignored otherwise then what is the answer?
I joined in with what was being discussed at the time. Please take this the right way and not as an attack but this thread thrives because there's a mix of opinions, some extreme, some moderate. The left leaning thread that was started has died a death and the last post (pardon the pun) on the US Election thread was on Tuesday. It's now on page 2. Just talking to those that think the same as you is pointless. I don't expect to change your mind but we bat things back and forth. I might learn something. What I posted on the US Election thread was no different to what I post on here but they went nuts about it. If someone new posted here I would read it and either react or not. I wouldn't get nasty or look for them to be banned. I said Biden is a joke because this is the 3rd time he's tried to be President and it's going to be the closest he will get but he's too old, Trump is too old. If it was possible to vote for anyone else I would but I could never vote for Biden because that is a vote for hard left. They might elect Biden but he won't be President, Sanders and Harris will be.

I had moved on and when Chesh told me that it was just the thread I was ok with it. What I posted rattled a few cages and I thought I might be getting the heave ho. The row that kicked of with Tobes really made me feel bad. I thought it was my fault. I've only been here a short time so don't know the tensions between the posters. When it kicked off I thought I'd lit a fuse. I think it's calmed down (pardon the pun). I went to my happy place

Let's face it if you had half a brain and could make a good living why would you even apply? Maybe on your CV you have to be over 70. No disrespect to older people but, if you ran a company would you get a CEO who's a pensioner?
