Gosden said after Enable's win:- “The track is riding deeper than usual and Frankie felt she didn’t find it as easy to be as fluent on as she normally is. “She normally springs off that, but it’s just riding a bit sticky. He added that this race will have brought her on. I felt there was something not quite right about her today and it seems I was not the only person who thought that.
I hope you have them in multiples. I no longer have a spy in the camp but the yard is enjoying its best spell for some time.
Pam sly just won the first at wolves , so good news on Stable form , Grouseman her other runner later .
Withdrawn. Still, a nice double, pays for the beers tonight. Will have some on Rudeys Grouseman seeing Pam Slys other has gone in.
The warning signs have been there for Enable, not being able to lay a glove on the glorified dog Ghaayaith first time out, and now skipping York for a public gallop. Gosden giving her every chance but you cant her expect her to be as good at the end of her 6yo season, time is undefeated. They will be praying for a bit of rain to hamper the favourite I think. Enable ran a winning race last year, too close to a suicidal pace on bottomless ground and running her finish down a rail that got swamped late and wide all day long, she was undoubtedly the best horse on the day but the plodder Waldgeist who had been put away in the Prince of Wales and King George, and multiple other times previously be Enable, was in the right place at the right time and picked up the pieces.
Nice one. Paid better than the winner for a place! It was worth nearly 32 grand more than a strong piece of work on the HQ gallops for Enable but told us nothing really. The big changes in the Arc market will be next week with expected defections and results at Doncaster/Leopardstown/Longchamp. Well done to all those who went with Euchen Glen – the jockey’s missus gave no word for it on ITV and we thought it was just jockeys that were lousy tipsters.
Newspaperofrecord turned over on fast ground round two turns, soft ground "superstar" only and ideally at 7f.
