Agree. He's a decent enough CB, won about everything in the air, could pass, good positioning, but not too quick. If we hadn't have broadcast we were giving him away, we may have got something for him. Otherwise we could have used him until we did, we don't have too many CB's. Warburton used him a fair bit last season even if he isn't his favourite, got to be useful against the many teams that still play the long ball game.

We aren’t making these decisions without a strategy. BFG doesn’t fit the plans. Weirdly, I think they might already have worked out what they (board and management) are doing. I’m not used to this level of confidence(?) in our actions.

I meant to say his positioning was good in the air, good radar maybe! Agree not so good on the floor.

Sean has been on the money this transfer window. Really hoping this one comes off. Really need to tighten up that defence as I can't see us scoring as many as we did last year.

Yes, we have lost our 3 top scorers in Wells, Hugill and Eze, plus our main play maker (Eze again), and the likes of Hall who scored 5, Pugh and Leischner. Need to strengthen at the back for sure, but having seen that League 1 standard stuff yesterday, it looked like we need to strengthen in both midfield and up front too, even if BOS and Manning stay.

Good luck to Eze,he has been the standout player for us by a country mile, and I hope tears up the prem..The fee we received is reasonably good, as in the past we have had our pants pulled down and **** ******
on a more cynical viewpoint, selling of your best players and not replacing them with quality really shows your lack of ambition in moving forward,a player like Eze you should be building a team around, not flogging off..will the fee be spent on some quality players, other than up and coming punts ? Or disappear into the coffers? Time will tell..and why oh why did he choose Palace? They will be in the bottom half at best

I think Palace is a good fit for him. They may be mid-table Prem, but he should get plenty of game time there, as opposed to sitting on the bench with a top eight team. If he performs well with Palace, which I don't doubt he will, then he'll earn himself a move to one of the big boys and slot straight into their first team (and hopefully earning us a good wedge with the sell-on clause). I think Hodgson will be good for him and he will develop into something special, akin to Sterling maybe?

A London based club also suits him as he comes across as quite close to his family, so he'll not need to relocate to the other end of the country.

Yes Its a good move for Eze. I'd have preferred for QPR that we could have kept him, and raised cash if not as much as from Eze, in selling the next bests, who with the possible exceptions of BOS and Kakay, I doubt will ever be PL quality.

Yes but this is the real world. We have had our pants pulled down by the football authorities for the criminal stupidity of the first three years of Tony Fernandes' reign. We were the example to be made of for others to learn the lesson. It's clear that plenty have not and they will pay the penalty, We are not in a position where we could expect other clubs to do anything but take advantage of our financial woes. The upside is that we have weathered the storm and SURVIVED. We have learned the lesson the hard way and will do well enough provided we do not return to the Del Boy Trotter way f making millions. Almost £20 million for one of our players. If we were in the same situation as we were 12 months ago we wouldn't have got more that £5 million for him

Let's also not forget that last season was the first season he played nearly all the games. I think that a £20 mill return on a player didn't want makes good financial sense I these strange times. His going, should mean the likes of Chair and BOS know that if they perform to their max, then their is a chance that we will cash in. Sad but true but until we reach the premier league it ill be how it is.,
Hopefully MW will not waste what funds he is given...

I still think we need a bit more quality upfront, Dykes is still a bit raw, Oteh is not Championship quality and the Dane is a big gamble. Perhaps a loanee with a bit of experience, I think Eze will be a big miss for his scoring contribution as well as Wells was after he went...

There should be a few deals about with relegated teams and others trying to cut the wage bill. Hopefully we can bring in 2-3. What’s the score with Hugil?
