I wanted to take Domino Darling on at evens this morning. She has the promise for sure but has been off for a long time and has to concede 7 lbs on her belated return to action.

Michael Stoute's Tanita has solid bits of form but I preferred the once race Gosden filly. She was caught for speed as the race started in earnest last time out but stayed on to good effect to get back into it and take third place. She looked likely to be suited by stepping up in trip and any improvement puts her in the picture here. She is facing a longer trip and softer ground, so perhaps there is that chance that it might test her stamina but at 9/2 I felt she has promise and Domino Darling seems worryingly easy to back.

    3.55 Newmarket Zahratty 9/2

Backed all the way down to 6s before being withdrawn ( bit tongue) at least the
gamble didn't go astray as such.

Off to a great start then Ascension won and was looking ok. All downhill from there. One let me down on the acca which is very frustrating

Shout with Brad The Brief there. I didn't do Summerghand today because I feel he is suited to big fields. He's handicapped to the hilt on 113 now though, so unlikely to get into the type of race that suits ideally.

Zahratty was well backed late on. She was weak this morning and available at 5/1 at one stage. In the end she did it nicely enough, I thought at one stage she might come a couple of lengths clear but she had to knuckle down a bit in the end.

The betting told the story with Domino Darling and after being about Evens early on, she ended up touching 2/1 before being returned 2/1. She never really looked liked winning and was under the pump quite early on. In the end she was 5th and behind a 40/1 shot. One time favourite for the Oaks, she has had her setbacks this year but this was a Class 5 Novice and you would have to be worried for her on this showing. I saw confident tips for her based on her beating Golden Wand on debut but that was a long time ago and the two fillies have had very different paths this season,

Tanita was the strongest in the betting this morning but she has run a stinker in last place today.

Probably not a great race there but a winner is always welcome, on a Saturday in particular. I had a bad feeling about Domino Darling today and was a bit surprised to see very few tipsters wanted to go against her, considering the circumstances she came here under.

BBC haven't yet picked up on Hollie Doyle's 5-timer. No doubt there will be an in-depth article next week <doh>

Very nice performance from Galileo Chrome at Navan. The time of the race was desperately slow but Joey O'Brien's son of Australia has come a long way this summer, probably progressing two stones coming into today and on the soft ground over 13F he drew away easily to beat a couple of 100 rated type horses by five lengths on what was only his 4th start. He's won his three races this season and is surely set for Group class next time.

I would have thought that the St Leger and Melbourne Cup would be in the thinking after that showing today.

As long as you can lay horses you are always going to see things like Domino Darling yesterday, whoever was laying her made far more than the 3 grand on offer to the winner, nothing more than a public gallop after an injury and a nice little earner for Haggas and co. The market rarely lies when it comes to his horses, and as far as the stewards are concerned, nothing to see here.

I didnt even know she was running, took one overlook at the newmarket card on soft ground and said no thanks, not a track I bet at too often. Im pretty sure I would have been able to get away from Domino Darling in the circumstances even if I did know she was running, im not interested in short prices and certainly not short Haggas drifters.
