Tbf if he is their left back for the next 10 years that’s a cracking deal for them in my eyes

They can’t keep away from us, give it 3 years and they’ll be chucking £100mill at Luke Thomas and trying to flog Ben to Stoke :bandit:

Good player but one that we can replace pretty readily ... wish him all the best but think Harvey will do an Ismail Sarr on him when we play them <cheers>

I wish we'd get on with the replacement part.

Good luck to him, thanks for the memories. News Ndidi wanted by Spurs and missing the first preseason game is concerning. I have faith the squad will be strengthened but would hate to lose him.

If there was one player who had to leave I would have let Chilwell go, never convinced by his defending, good going forward though. I wouldn't read too much in to Ndidi missing training, papers love to make stories out of nothing.

I really don’t think Chilwell is a big loss. The big loss will be not investing or wasting the money. I do genuinely think he can be upgraded on for near on half the fee if the club get it right which is my concern....
Ricardo, Ndidi, Soyuncu, Vardy and Barnes I think would be much bigger losses and even Maddison and Tielemans would be harder to replace given their positions but there seems to be a number of left backs that could be obtainable if we try.
Cant see any more such as Ndidi going this year, we’ve never let more than one go per year.

At least I will no longer get frustrated by seeing Chilwell run down the left wing.....stop......turn back (whilst only controlling the ball with his left foot, then playing it back to our centre backs!!!!

That said, good luck to him. I just hope he doesn't become Drinkwater mark 2!!!!

Agreed, Harborough. That's exactly what used to frustrate me about him. Towards the end of the season, when he didn't have Barnes in front of him he did start to show more ambition and go past opponents and get to the bye-line. I think Chelsea's more attack minded approach will suit him, and it could be a good move for him.

In the manner of Peter Kay's 'Garlic Bread' skit:

    "Ndidi to Spurs?"
    "NDIDI... to... SPURS???"
    <laugh>

No way will he take a step down to that level.

Our new LB target is Matt Targett from Villa - turns out Tagliafico is only £25m for teams in the Champions League and £40m for us.

Tbf if the right player isn’t available I really wouldn’t be against going with Thomas and Fuchs for a year

It all just feels strange and ominous like something is not right behind the scenes...hopefully it’s a case of the club keeping things really tightly in house and things are happening but we’ve previously had anyway (Under Pearson) without the feeling something is brewing.
We do need about 3 positions to keep us competitive, I guess the window continues after the season starts but even with the favourable looking fixtures we could be losing early ground here..

Think you are reading too much into it mate ... loads of Press speculation as always ... I expect a couple of signings will happen pretty quickly, perhaps 3 ... and some transfers out ... we are going to need a bigger squad with back-up options, given the European campaign ... be patient <cheers>

Just a feeling mate, as I said hopefully just being kept close to the club as none of the rumours seems remotely reliable so I don’t believe things can genuinely be so quiet. Don’t trust the current regime to do a good job of recruitment mind

Why mate? ... James Justin looks a fine blossoming talent and Dennis Praet hasn't been a disaster by any means ... and Brenda signed both Coutinho and Suarez whilst at Liverpool ...

Oh don’t get me wrong, they haven’t been bad signings like old Claudio in 2016 but like Perez as well, not set the world alight. Whilst he wasn’t popular, nobody has come close to Puel in the signings department, Maddison, Ricardo, Soyuncu, Tielemans in his limited time and started the emphasis on youth promotion from within. His pal Congerton comes with a very poor reputation too. It feels a bit Claudio mk11 to me that’s all, the manager trying to have control of everything rather than focusing on the team when the way the club has been run for years has been nothing short of amazing.

Don't think so ... would take a mega fee to get Wilf and I think we'd have seen some reports ... remember he had a spell out with a muscle injury last season ... absence might just be precautionary ...
