Looks like Ben White is accepting a new 5 year deal at £35kpwk, and it has a pay rise after each season. So good luck to him but I bet he ends up out on loan rather than used at Brighton
Shop window contract so they can sell to highest bidder. Brighton will probably owe on the stadium still. Can see them cashing in at sometime in the future. He is not worth that sort of money they may come to regret that contract.
£35,000 isn't great money in the Premier league m8.kock although costing a lot less than White, will be on a lot more.
I wish Ben White the best and I do think he'll turn out to be a top player but he's had one decent season at Championship level. There's a real possibility he might be found out in the Premier League or his progress could be hampered by injury. It's a risk Brighton have to take but in 12 months time they could be in the Championship unable to offload him and his Premier League contract.
If you put a £40m price tag on a players head, then you must pay him the relevant wage. All there own doing that.
The thing with White is that 12 months ago he was a nobody and we forced him in to the lime light. If he get 2 years of good performances we all know that the likes of Chelsea and Scum will be knocking at Brighton's door offering a fair whack of money. Clearly this is putting him in the shop window. If Brighton get relegated in May time and they get tipped to be relegated every year he will probably get offloaded because he's got potential. At this point him time he won't be over taking Maguire and Gomez for the 2 CB spots however give it a couple of years and a decent enough coach he'll be in the England set up on a regular basis.
Love BW as a player and did brilliantly for us but there are two concerns for me. As Chesh says, he isn't the strongest in the air and, in the run in he got done twice showing players to his right (Luton & Cardiff I think). Both were great strikes but a £ 40 million defender should never let that happen, the shots should have been blocked or the player taken wider.
Thats the things i remember as well and Brighton have taken a risk. But they could have cashed in for a great profit. Master bastes would have sold him.
I think Brighton need to take a risk this moment in time and they need show a statement of intent. If they sold us White and Dunk to Chelsea they would be fed off by other clubs. Despite being in the Prem for 3 years now you've got remember they're a small club compared to the likes of Liverpool, Villa, Us or even Forest and QPR and the last 2 are in the league below
Compared to Villa they have less debt i reckon the diver will get sold soon and then we will see how good he is. Big fish little pond is Grealish villa fans reckon he is England class. I'm English and he can't even get in our crap side which says a lot to me.
Can’t get into our crap side???? Have a day off Wakey me old pal, if not take a different pill tomorrow.
Yeah they've got less debt that Villa but let's be honest they've never set the world a light. You look at Villa in the last 20 to 30 years they've taken gambles on players and they've paid off. Angel cost them £10 million and he was a nobody. O'Neill spent a fortune on player and it payed off. yes they're in less debt than Villa but Villa have taken gambles and they're a bigger club. Brighton play it safe and they get Shane Duffy. Do you expect a Carew or Heskey to sign for Potter and Brighton. The answers is no.
