You said goodbye to him when you both left Riley High in 1956 on different paths to a higher education. You went to Manchester and he stayed in Hull at Hull College of Technology.

Pretty remarkable that you established contact with him via this thread 55 years later, he living in Australia and you settled in the USA.

I went to Wolfreton in the 1980’s. It wasn’t the best school but with supportive parents I went to medical school and am now a GP. My wife and her two sisters also went, they went on to be a history teacher, a palliative care consultant and a top family lawyer, so it can’t have been that bad!
I recall Gareth Roberts coming in to school at times, it was rumoured he was in a relationship with one of the teachers. It was great as a teenage fan to see your hero at school.
I don’t recall any teachers taking their clothes off, but that could have been later. I do recall a teacher being found scrawling graffiti on the school walls calling the headmaster a puff. This was after the whole school was bollocked for this vandalism.

My uncle Dave, born down 22nd avenue, went to Riley in around 58 to 62.
Emigrated to Canada in about 1975. Worked in Toronto at Coors brewery as their chief executive officer. Now lives in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. Stunning place. 15 miles North of the falls.
    TC will know it.

On my side of the family the only close relations I have left are in Canada and the US. Dad's family of six quit Hong Kong for Canada in the 30's before the Japanese invasion of China. My grandad /grandma settled on Vancouver Island with dad's brother living in Vancouver . Dad's 2 sisters finished up settling in the US. with dad coming to England to join the RAF.

Dad's brother cut ties with all the family after marrying and having a son. So the proverbial long lost cousin could still be around.

I have never visited Canada with trips been planned before being thwarted. My husband has been there and to the US. on several business trips and met several members of my family.

Smashing place Niagara on the Lake. In fact, spent my 3 day honeymoon there ! Mother had come over for the wedding & loved it.
(She didn't stay - the old mother-in-law jokes have a lot of validity <laugh>)

Visited N-o-t-L maybe once every couple of months as an ex-flatmate & university colleague from Leeds lived & worked in Niagara Falls.

Sadly stopped going around 20 years ago as my mate passed away. Suspicion his death was related to exposure to toxic chemicals associated with his job (chemical engineering research). You never know what's gonna happen , however careful you might be ?

Stay safe in these days of uncertainty by being sensible would be my message.

I also attended RHS, unfortunately by the time I got there it had gone well down the tubes. I honestly had a better education at my Junior High school, Wilberforce.

We played a police academy ( or something to do with coppers, it was a long time ago) the only clue a game of rugby was being played was a rugby ball on the pitch. Just one very long punch up, ref blew his whistle, game started, first tackle... a punch up. The last time he blew the whistle he chucked it on the floor and walked off....bunch of dirty bastards !!!!
