Yes mate nothing has changed, everything is in place for this to be completed one or two things to iron out
Well the pray mats out for fox to ride off into the sunset and his master to slink off on his shirt tails
Disagree. Even with the Salary cap. SD can't sustain a club our size. And without crowds I don't think he can or wants to sustain the losses he is making. Yes we can't spend the cash on players but we need the finances now to start rebuilding the club that SD has decimated. The academy U18/U23's, our recruitment, the whole management / footballing structure. All needs not only to be maintained but to be completely rebuilt. Getting new owners and finance in now means we can start the process of creating a Championship / Premiership infrastructure. Waiting for promotion and trying to rebuild if we went up would be a disaster. We'd more than likely come straight back down.
Got a bit info last night from someone who gets info from time to time. Sale is indeed full steam ahead and is not a red herring as in his words 'SD is being crippled with the cost of running SAFC' and wants out asap. At least 2 meetings took place last week 1 was a board meeting as has been widely reported. Another meeting scheduled this week (didn't say when) just minor details to sort apparently. Just passing on with what I was told.
If Donald is staying, as some keep insisting, he's going into a critical new season in hiding. The supporters are hearing absolutely nothing from the club and new players are being sneaked in through the back door. Academy players plus backroom staff are drifting away. Potential owners are speaking to the Press and journalists are speaking about a takeover. It was even reported on Look North. Yet some people, with zero information, are claiming nothing is happening ... ... that's fair enough but does it need to be repeated day after day.
Even if people choose to ignore all the info thats been given out. The academy manager position is still vacant and time after time suggestions someone is close but nothing announced. Two of the main recruitment team gone meaning the work is being done by the manager and Jones, who imo doing a better job. And finally chairman, we were told a new one would be appointed at the next meeting, yet we know rodwell and jones have been but up. And it was likely going to be an easy internal appointment yet still nothing. If you are gambling on staying another season and getting promoted issues like that would be sorted asap.
Jones is doing a great job. I’ve met him he’s sound as ****. Even the fact he is becoming more visibly involved is a suggestion of something. He’s high profile, he’s perceived as a possible successor for Jeff Stelling, he’s known through out the game and his contacts will be extensive. Im utterly convinced something is happening there, I just don’t know what, or any timescale.
I’m sure when he took the role he had no idea how much he would end up having to do. He has stepped up massively lately and like someone has said before it’s not for the money because he just doesn’t need it, its his love for the club. I’m positive with a good offer on the table he will be pushing donald to take the money and run.
I agree. He genuinely wants the club to grow and progress and he’s really throwing his weight in there at the minute, like I said for me that’s another indicator that something positive is on the cards. In terms of profile you could easily argue he’s the top football guy at Sky, he does Super Sunday, the absolute flagship of the PL coverage, he contributes heavily to MNF as well. Can you even imagine the contacts he has, the respect he has and the potential links he can bring to the club? He’s a huge asset. If it is indeed him that’s guiding the recruitment thus far we are all delighted.
Great post mate. Personally I think the same is true of Dave and Tom S. They have nothing to gain from this other than the progress of our club! I am very confident they will succeed and they will deserve credit as well!
Agree about Jones I always thought he was sound long before I knew he was a Sunderland fan. He must have a great list of contacts in the game and he certainly knows his football.
Him and Sloanes were excellent on that fixture breakfast (posted earlier) Looks like they've come in took time to have a look around weigh up the situation and are now actively involved They appear to be the public face of the club at the moment With Donald looking like he's given up and the CEO saying nothing Hopefully signals a change on its way.
